Police Commissioner Kelly In 3-Car Brooklyn Fender-Bender

2010_12_kellycrash.jpg Last night around 8 p.m., a vehicle carrying Police Commissioner Ray Kelly was caught in a three-car accident on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. And snow is involved. According to WCBS 2, "First, a white van was cut off by a red sedan as the lanes merged. The van swerved to avoid hitting the sedan and struck a snow embankment and a road barrier. Commissioner Kelly’s driver put on the brakes, but the SUV slid into the van and was then struck by a Lincoln Towncar."

Kelly was being driven in a Ford Expedition, heading towards the 65th Street exit. The Post adds, "No one was injured, no airbags were deployed and no tickets were issued." Incidentally, the red car never stopped and kept going and all vehicles were going 40 MPH.

Yeah, that ramp is indeed very fucked up by the snow. The plows arbitrarily created a merge where there normally isn't one, by not plowing one lane.

Same is true in places on the BQE - the snow just suddenly takes over the right lane. Saw one car yesterday that accidentally drove into it, hit the cement barrier, and spun around backwards.

Nice to know somebody "important" experienced this.
