Caption This: Bloomberg's Staten Island Diner Photo Op

When people are getting upset, what's a politician to do but go out and press flesh? That is certainly what Mayor Bloomberg has been doing since yesterday's press conference. His Twitter feed has pictures of Hizzoner yesterday visting folk in Brooklyn, Queens and even Staten Island. The last one in particular, seen above, caught our eye. Whoever writes the mayor's feed captioned it "an NYC family making the best of a snowy day with an early dinner at Colonnade Diner on SI," but we think you can do better. Give us your best caption in the comments!

let's be honest. the best dinner in Staten island is "mike's unicorn dinner" and no matter how great your food is it'll never be as good as a unicorn.

  • No caption idea here; I'm just in awe of how the mayor is able to flit from borough to borough so easily while my street is still only partially passable and neither of the nearby subway lines were working all day.

And as a goodwill gesture, I have adopted this family and they will be moving in with me as soon as possible.

Mayor Munchkin finds two more of his kind in SI Diner. Unlike the Mayor, however, they will continue to grow.

Kind family, concerned, treats Mayor a wholesome meal after Hizzoner is found aimlessly bumbling around SI. Initial reports suggest that when prompted by his hosts to get back to work, Bloomburg mumbled "But Cory stole my idea" into his hot chocolate.

Parents of said family have apparently recommend Grandma's nursing home to senior city staffers when they drove all the way out in the blizzard to pick up the Mayor.

***edited for breaking news: half of the snow plows lost to this cross-borough Mayoral recovery effort have finally been dug out.

Mayor Bloomberg poses with a family at a Staten Island diner, not realizing he's still in New York City and has not fully escaped to safety just yet.

After their blood tests came back negative for salt, trans-fats and nicotine, a Staten Island family is deemed worthy to be photographed in the presence of Nanny Bloomberg.

  • Mayor visits SI Diner: a rare photo opportunity with residents claiming to live in a legendary "Fifth Borough" of NYC.

However, this family is not from Staten Island (which may also be why they're smiling).

They're really from Newark, NJ. After Mayor Corey Booker shoveled their car out, this family immediately drove to SI to rescue their stranded, hungry friends and take them out to dinner.

Just saw his press conference and it sounds like he's sick. Hope he didn't infect these poor people.
