Phew! FDNY Backlogged Calls Down To 166

122810phone.jpg What a relief. At the height of Blizzageddon the FDNY reported a backlog of over 1,300 emergency calls, but as of this morning there were just 166 outstanding calls left. And just three of them were life-threatening! The FDNY was also forced to call in backup from New Jersey and upstate New York, as 68 ambulances remain stranded around the city. Maybe if Mayor Bloomberg flexed his brawny muscles and picked up a shovel once in a while we wouldn't have to call Jersey for help.

Highest taxes in the country and I'm out there with a shovel last night in case a baby wants to be born during a fire.

    This is BS.

I never saw an ambulance or a fire truck with chains on - why not? Given the seemingly monumental number of calls and the huge delays, I'm surprised that the FDNY didn't put chains on all their vehicles.
