Photos: Blizzard In Progress

Readers have been sending in photographs of today's blizzard-in-the-making. You can share your photos by sending them to photos@gothamist.com or tagging them "gothamist" on Flickr. According to our totally unscientific poll (below), 65% of you believe we'll get more than six inches of snow—right now, forecasters are predicting totals of sixteen to eighteen inches. Long Island might get two feet of snow!

And you know what else? Flights are grounded along the East Coast and Long Island might get two feet of snow Amtrak service has been cancelled between NYC and Boston and alternate side of the street parking in NYC is suspended tomorrow (but parking meters are in effect)!

The National Weather Service is predicting 15" to 23". Weather Underground is calling for 18" to 24" in Astoria. I didn't think we'd get much earlier when we were on the fringe of the storm. Now, we're right in the center. You can check the radar at www.wunderground.com/ . It's a big site, but look for the regional radar. That way you can see the entire storm.

  • I bet we'll get about a foot. If it doesn't all blow in through the ancient windows in my apartment that is.
