It's a post-Christmas sign! After meteorologists suggested that NYC could get three to six inches (or five to eight inches) of snow from a storm that is headed our way, the National Weather Service stepped up the speculation by issuing a Blizzard Warning. As the NWS explains, "A developing winter storm off the Carolina Coast will move northeast to just south of Long Island tonight bringing blizzard conditions to most of the region." It's believed the region could be hit with 11-16 inches of snow (heck, maybe even 18 inches further out!) and "strong winds with considerable blowing and drifting of snow with almost no visibility at times." Those of you driving, be careful! But do you really think there's going to be that much snow?

The city says it's ready to deal with the impending snowmageddon with 24-hour snow removal—there are 365 salt spreaders and 1,600 snow plows, and the cit has 180,000 tons of salt. The salt spreaders start going out when there's a trace of snow or ice and then the plows head out once there are two inches.

Sunday Night: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 23. Windy, with a north wind between 23 and 29 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Monday: Snow likely, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Windy, with a northwest wind between 24 and 28 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Blustery, with a north wind between 16 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
