Video: Drunk Vs. Bouncer Outside Midtown Bar

Sometime last week the universe orchestrated this piece of sidewalk theater, starring a drunk kid, a bouncer, and a bystander with the ability to record live, moving, action! Seems the young man wanted to get in to Clancy's Irish Exit on 2nd Avenue, and when denied by the bouncer he verbally assaulted him. With each "fuck you!" aggressively screamed into his face, the bouncer would shove the man to the ground. This happened four times, and each time the determined drunk would hop back up and start the routine all over again... all whilst his seemingly less drunk friend threatened legal action.

We've contacted the bar to see if they've heard from these two in the video, and to find out if their bouncers are licensed. We'll update when we hear back. [via NYC the Blog]

Getting called a bad name doesn't excuse assault. As much of a gigantic douchebag the drunk was, the bouncer's behavior was well outside the realm of legal.

Granted, in at least one occasion the drunk leaned into the bouncer, or perhaps verbally threatened him. However, on the 4th, 5th, 6th time the bouncer forcefully throws the man to the ground can you really say it's because he felt threatened? Is it more likely just due to hurt feelings?

He deserved what he got. The bouncer definitely showed restraint and stood his ground. If he would have gone into the street chasing the guy down my opinion would be different, Seemed he was smart enough to take five before he did some serious damage.
Also, if he did do his drinking in that bar there is a cut-off issue.

  • I miss the old NY where douchebags like these would have gotten pummeled by the bouncers, then gotten no sympathy from the cops. Alas, this place is now filled with the handwringing, "oh mah gawd, excessive force", ultra liberal crowd.

  • I love how his friend is more concerned about warning the bouncer about the financial strains of a lawsuit rather than dragging his buddy away from getting his ASS BEAT! hahahaha Learn how to throw a punch, they write a How-To in Details every few months which I imagine these cornballs read while they're sh-tting corn niblets from their cornball arses HAHAHA

-10 for the awful pointy-toed loafers with wide leg jeans.

  • Nyctini11

Isn't that the guy who you just featured starting the Native Society?

  • JimboGold853OKG

In dealing with that type, I think the bouncer showed admirable restraint.

Lets summarize. The 2 idiots were obviously thrown out or denied entry, then around 50s the one that gets shoved tried to walk past the bouncer and the other employee. It seems as if every time he is shoved, he makes contact or is threatening in some other manner towards the bouncer. He wasn't hit, he was pushed away after he made some physical contact, and continued being a drunken belligerent ass.

  • HypocraticOath

Why is the new reaction to anything ridiculous to yell, "Are you kidding me?" The answer is "obviously not" right after some big guy pushes you to the ground for being a smart ass beer muscled douchenozzle.

ugh, this video shows *exactly* why the East Village has turned into such a sucktastic neighborhood. Thanks, fratboy douchebags!

  • FILTHBAG

HA SPOILED RICH SHELTERED LITTLE BASTARDS. THAT'S THE BOUNCERS JOB. FUCK OUTTA HERE!

  • whirlybird

who the fuck would want to hang out in this place?

  • Guest

...the ones you see in the video.

  • JaneJaneJane

The bouncers were right. Mostly. However, starting around 1:26 the shoving from one of the bouncers shifted from normal controlling a drunk to excess use of force. I think Richie Rich #1 or #2 called him the N word. I would have used excess force, too. I don't know how people can do jobs like that and not lose their temper on a daily basis. You have to have the patience of a saint.

  • WetButt

I didn't hear them make any racist comments

  • JaneJaneJane

It's not very clear but at 1:30 or so the guy talking to the bouncer appears to say the N word (the sound is bad but watch the guy's lips - it certainly looks like it) and the bouncer tells him to say it again, etc.

  • Guest

sorry, at work here so i watched it without sound. at which mark did these drunks use the n-word? thanks in advance!

  • shocktheday

not very clear but I think he says it at 1:36, just before the bouncer tells him to say it again.

  • Guest

ugh... ok, i watched it during my lunch with sound -- it isn't very clear, and the kid also seems to say "i didn't say anything."

so, i said it before and i'll say it again:

WE NEED MORE ARTISTIC PEOPLE TO FILM THESE FIGHTS -- thank you.

i give it a single star for filling up a part of my empty work life.

  • Mr Mel

I think you're right, these altercations require more cameras and better sound quality. Perhaps we should encourage those annoying film students to start making themselves useful.
