Video: Those Staten Island Turkeys Just Got Creepy
When 23-year-old dental assistant, and Staten Island local Gina talked about her fear of the borough's wild turkeys, well, it was more amusing than terror-inducing. She declared: "It was straight out of Cujo. I'm sitting in my car Facebooking on my phone when turkeys jumped on my windshield. I screamed like I was being murdered. They just kept looking at me like it was their car. I felt trapped. I was so scared." But now a new video has surfaced showing the turkeys standing eerily still, and it puts the fear in us. Really, the first few seconds of footage are almost Hitchcockian, or at least James Nguyenian.
The Staten Island Advance reports that the state Department of Environmental Conservation is still working out that survey that will decide the fate of the feathered residents. Meanwhile, the man behind the camera of this video told them, “I had no idea they were there. All of a sudden I see these huge birds and hear all the noise they’re making. It was weird... nobody was running from me, and there was that one guy who was just staring at me when I started filming." *Shivers*

how is this creepy in any way? they are birds standing in groups and foraging, some moving toward other birds. it is perfectly ordinary behavior. you city folks see it every day among pigeons, for instance. are we so entirely disconnected from other animals that this is somehow opaque?
i say we just let staten island go. its been a long time coming. and this pretty much seals it.

I like Staten Island. It's got some terrific parks and woods. You should go there! And get lost!

She was scared of turkeys on her car? Are you kidding me? Honk the horn and they'll run away. Or spray them with wiper fluid.
Rocknrope
Or drive away.

Or get out of the car and lop one of their heads off. Sends a message to the others and you're left with dinner! (Some *more* disassembly required, though)
