Last Night's Action: Giants Win At Minnesota (in Detroit)

Despite getting stuck in Kansas City on Saturday and then having to go to Detroit, the Giants had no trouble with the Vikings in a 21-3 win on Monday night. The game, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday in Minneapolis, got postponed and eventually moved when the Metrodome's roof caved in after a Minnesota blizzard. The Giants, who were diverted in air to Kansas City when the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport closed Saturday, ended up conducting a walkthrough in a hotel board room.

But they didn't look any worse for wear on Monday. After falling behind 3-0, the Giants scored the game's next 21 points. Brandon Jacobs scored from one yard out midway through the second quarter, and the Giants took a 14-3 lead into halftime when Eli Manning found Kevin Boss for six-yard strike. Ahmad Bradshaw put the game out of reach with a 48-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter. Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre, who had started 297 straight games, was inactive with a shoulder injury, snapping his NFL-record streak.

The Islanders have lost six straight and 20 of 21 after a 5-0 loss to Nashville in Tennessee. Is that bad?

Anyone else think this game was BORING.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong... but I'm fairly certain, at no point in the coverage, did they show a single fan in the crowd. I understand there may not have been people in either teams jerseys....but....really?

It was a pretty dull game. Especially at the end when the Vikings looked like they were trying to get their QB killed by using all their timeouts and flinging the ball downfield with :03 left in the game. And they nearly did get him killed. No way Favre would have survived all 4 quarters.

Pretty sure they showed a shot of the Vikings player jump up to celebrate with the fans after running a kickoff back for a touchdown (only to have the touchdown negated by a blocking penalty).

  • They showed some people doing the wave, does that count?

  • JohnnyLes

    absolutely.

Most of the shots focused on Brett Favre, who was dressed like he was ready for a night of chow at the local soup kitchen. The game was a clunker, but the Giants managed to beat the awful Vikings relatively unscathed...
