Off-Duty Cop Shot Outside Of Bronx Diner

Around 5 a.m., an off-duty cop was shot in the back in the Bronx, outside of the Pelham Bay Diner. According to WABC 7, "The off-duty officer was reportedly involved in a fight in the parking lot. It's not clear if he was trying to break up a fight or if he was an active participant in the altercation."

The victim,a 43-year-old victim, was hit in his lower back. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to survive. Police held the diner's customers and workers were held for hours to take statements. A shooter and two accomplices remain at large.
