NYPD Internal Affairs, DA Probe Dog Poop Police Brutality

120910poop.jpg The NYPD Internal Affairs and the Queens District Attorney's office are investigating the alleged police beating of Anna Stanczyk, a 49-year-old Polish immigrant who's lived in Rockaway Beach for almost two decades. Stanczyk was walking her beloved terrier Psotka outside her apartment on the Friday after Thanksgiving when two cops with the 100th precinct told her to clean up dog poop that she says wasn't Psotka's. When she argued with them (while also scooping up the frozen excrement), the situation escalated.

Here's her interview with Eyewitness News:

Stancyzk says when the heated argument resulted in her arrest, she panicked because her dog got loose in the process. "I started to scream for help. Help, help... my dog is going to be killed by a car," she tells CBS2. "The moment I scream I feel the punch in my face. They punch back of head, my breast." She admits that when she was loaded into the back of the squad car, she resisted by kicking the door. That's when one officer allegedly leaned in and, according to Stancyzk's friend, punched her "one, two three, four, five, six, in her head and her chest."

After taking her to the station house, police brought Stancyzk to the hospital for the heavy bruising around her eye, cheek, breast and back. She was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, and her lawyer says the charges will likely be dropped. Stancyzk has filed a complaint with the CCRB and also plans to file a lawsuit against the NYPD, which has not commented on Poopergate.

Dog poop is a violation. a "beat down" by a cop is...a felony i assume?

There is no situation, not even during martial law, when it is legal to beat up a civilian.

So even if she actually physically tried to hurt the police, which nobody says she did, the police would be wrong.

It is simply not plausible to argue that the cops weren't wrong. "two sides to every story" doesn't address their reaction in this situation, regardless of circumstances.

Whether she's a pain in the ass or not, that's no way for "law enforcement professionals" to handle such a situation. If the PBA won't let them get fired, those cops deserve is a week in the 'hood with no weapons or backup to see how it really is. If they live, they'll go crying to their mommies.

  • glen glenn

If two police officers couldn't subdue a middle aged woman without beating the living shit out of her they should be fired for incompetence.

  • ides_of_march

    Absolutely correct.

  • Petey

I hope the DA's office references her admissions to the media in her trial about resisting arrest.

  • jeffcuts

Up yours you cop sympathist. I hope they reference how she denied blame and they get the cops for false imprisonment, harassment and anything else that a lawyer can conjure up to put these pigs in jail for as long as possible.

Its obvious that these two used excess force in dealing with this lady. There will always be stupid cops that only ever signed up so they can feel like they have power. This is what happens when you let your kids be crossing guards or hall monitors.

Resisting arrest is probably the most common "whoops I beat the shit out of someone" catch-all charge. What does her kicking the squad car door change about the way her face looks today?

  • marchug

by resisting arrest do you mean worrying about her dog? she was already punched in the head and chest before 'resisting' arrest.

  • felixthecat

is this dog a rescue or bought from a breeder. if latter then she deserved the can of whip ass

  • ides_of_march

What difference does it make if she bought it from a heterosexual?

  • felixthecat

Puppy mills.if she bought it then she supported the cruelty of puppy mills and therefore deserved an ass kicking.

  • youngpro1

wait, wait....dont you always go on anti-nypd diatribes? so it's okay to hate them unless theyre actually on puppy patrols or acting like animal control officers?

do you not see how sick and twisted you are? not at all? you just promoted someone's beating by the nypd (the same beatings you explode about when it happens to anyone else) and see absolutely no problem with that?

go to hell, rudy. seriously. i hope the same cops find you and beat you into intelligence.

  • ak

I appreciate the absurdity of both of these comments.

  • mistermarkdavis

breeder is slang for heterosexual. ides_of_march was just making a cute joke.

  • Aunt_Bike

Everybody knows the NYPD would never arrest anybody for no reason. Just ask the 1500 or so people arrested outside the RNC in 2004.

Make sure you ask the guy who was arrested and detained for passing the convention center on his way to pick up Thai food. He'll tell you what's what, I'm sure.

  • WetButt

And so the story starts to change. I could have sworn she claimed she picked up the poop...and smiled....and got a beating. Now she was in a heated argument, started screaming and yelling and was kicking and thrashing when she was arrested.

  • jeffcuts

You're the one twisting the story. All of those things probably happened. I know I smile when I'm telling people to go to hell as I am now. You should work as or for a politician with your asinine thought process whether its intentional or merely incidental in lower life and intelligence.

    Dolt..

  • Dirk

I was thinking the same thing. The story seems to be fluid at this point.

  • marchug

and this changes the fact that two male cops beat up a middle aged woman? it is not their job to deliver a punishment. that is what the court does.
