Video Shows Struggle, Gun In Livery Cab Driver Shooting

Yesterday, police released surveillance video of a passenger suspected of shooting livery cab driver Trevor Bell in Ozone Park on Friday night. The video clearly shows the passenger in a hooded sweatshirt talking to Bell before engaging in a physical struggle. Toward the end of the video, the passenger pulls a gun. Fernando Mateo, president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, told CBS 2, “We don’t know exactly what transpired during the moments before the shooting, but I think that with the images that we have, we will able to at least have an idea as to how this whole thing went down."

Bell is currently in critical but stable condition at Jamaica Hospital, where he is recovering from being shot in the neck, arm and both his legs. He cannot speak, but can communicate by gesturing. The NYS Federation of Taxi Drivers is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone with information about the attacker, who reportedly entered Big D's Car Service in St. Albans on Friday night to arrange the $12 fare to Sutter Avenue.
