Suspect Tyrone Hunter (ABC 7)
Yesterday, police arrested a man suspected of mugging five women last Wednesday and Thursday on the Upper East Side. In many of the instances, the suspect approached a woman from behind, demanded money and claimed he had a knife; Tyrone Hunter, 55, an ex-con recently released from prison, was charged with robbery and assault.

According to the Post, Hunter "has spent more than 30 years in state prison, including an eight-year stint for rape." He was released in October after serving 24 years for burglary. WABC 7 says that a tip led to his arrest, but when Hunter walked out of the police station, he told reporters he was innocent.

Hunter allegedly took cash, jewelry and an iPod from two of the victims. None of the victims were injured.

"8 year stint for rape, and 24 years for burglary" wtf?! hopefully the powers-that-be will finally get this right and keep this human reject off the streets for good.

So basically this loser has spent 60% of his life in prison and still can't help himself not commit crimes

I don't want to come to this guy's defense, but statements like that make me.
The guy has spent 60% of his life in prison. What else does he know how to do other than commit crimes? Over the past 30 years, the government has done an excellent job putting more people in prison while simultaneously cutting back on education and reform programs for prisoners.

  • whitecastlerock

The government didn't tell him to rape anyone. The government didn't tell him to rob these victims. What about personal accountability for crying out loud? Think about his victims instead of twisting this into how the government let this poor soul down.

he could have spent his time in prison getting an education. instead he got out & realized it's easier to take things & end up in prison again where he doesn't have to work. typical lazy mugger.
