Kid Shot In The Face Sues City

201011_bbgun.jpg Last November 15-year-old Marcus Bonner was shot in the face by a plainclothes narcotics detective who allegedly mistook Bonner's BB gun for the real thing. Though Bonner survived the incident he and his family are still, let's just say, upset about it. So they're suing the city, arguing that Bonner carried the gun to protect himself from bullies, that the officer who fired saw Bonner running from said bullies before chasing him and that the two officers on the scene lied about Bonner pulling the BB gun to cover up for their mistakes. Meanwhile, Bonner still faces two weapon possession charges from the day—a day we suspect all parties involved would rather hadn't happened.

This perp and his family should get nothing. You pull a gun (or what looks like a gun) on a cop and you are going to get shot, that's all there is to this.

i think its more likely, the officers saw this kid running from a group of people whom he just tried to rob, with a realistic looking BB gun. then he pointed the gun at officers thinking they would stop attempting to apprehend him.

ill be the first to say it, its a shame he survived. im sure after the city pays out, he'll continue his life of crime and continue preying on innocent new yorkers.

Sorry I don't feel bad. You are carrying something that resembles a real gun and running from the police and then you get shot by said police. I don't really see a problem here. Of course the city will settle this suit just like all the other horseshit lawsuits they settle with perps who broke the law.

Typical. Someone breaks the law & his family is "shocked" and "outraged" and rather than looking inward - why is my kid carrying around a fake gun? and is perhaps flashing a gun going to help him in any way (with bullies or otherwise) or just get into more trouble.

I mean, using their logic, EVERY kid in NYC should have a fake gun to thwart potential or perceived threats.

It's a shame that his parents ended up breeding.
