As promised, the Roosevelt Island tram returned in all its glory this morning and the Roosevelt Islander was there to capture the fun for posterity. Can't wait till the end of the day for that long-delayed rush of a three-minute ride over the East River? Don't! Oh, and one fun thing we hadn't realized about the all-new tram: thanks to a new cable system the gondolas can now move independently of each other meaning at rush hour two cars can leave from the same side. They've also added a whole slew of back-up generators so that this doesn't happen again. Progress.
