It's The Heaviest Travel Day Of The Year!

Good luck to everyone who is traveling for their Thanksgiving meals today—expect delays whether you're traveling by car, train or plane. This year, the AAA believes Thanksgiving travel will be up by 11.4% due to a better economy, with car travel up by over 12% and air travel up by 3.5%. And Amtrak is also prepared for today's rush of people carrying pumpkin pies and other fixin's—the rail service will be using all of its train cars today.

While air travel delays are expected, it's also National "Opt Out" Day, the protest against the Transportation Security Administration's screening techniques. The TSA has tried to remind fliers that opting out will probably just lead to more delays, but that's nothing compared to making a statement about not wanting your vagina groped, right?

And I learned, along with Good Friday, one of the two biggest pizza days of the year!

Nj.com made a big fail on the caption for the picture. When did an NJT train turn into Amtrak?

I was watching a show on the History Channel (The Real Story of Thanksgiving) and today doesn't rank even in the top 20 busiest travel days. The show said the busiest day is always some Friday in July/August.

thats right. i rarely have problems during T-day travel on the road, but summer holidays that fall on Fri or Mon are always a bitch.

Just read that the TSA specifically says that they do not prohibit photography and video at checkpoints. Article goes on to say you might encounter a TSA employee that doesn't know this. And your life is in your own hands with regard to local or state law. The "Don't Touch My Junk" guy in San Diego was cited for violating local law prohibiting photographs and video or audio recording in the airport.

People need to stretch out what days they travel. I made the mistake once of leaving Thanksgiving Eve and I'll never do that again.

Leave thanksgiving morning or the Eve's EVE of thanksgiving, and come back Saturday or Monday. It'll make life so much easier.
