Last Night's Action: Rangers Win After Late Flurry

As the clocked ticked, Henrik Lundqvist stood less three minutes from a shutout. But in 38 seconds, he saw his shutout disappear and a loss appear instead. After 27 more seconds, he was ticketed to overtime. After Ryan Callahan's goal three minutes, 38 seconds into the extra session, the Rangers had a 3-2 overtime win and two points. For much of the game, Erik Christensen' second period goal appeared as though it would stand up. But the Penguins rallied to take a lead late in the third period before Marc Staal tied it up with 86 seconds remaining. The Rangers have won three straight games.

The Devils slump continued in Boston with a listless 3-0 loss to the Bruins. The Devils have now been shut out in three of their last six games and have scored one goal or fewer in nine of their 18 games. Is that bad?

It was very nice of the referees to provide Pittsburgh with a man advantage for 20 percent of the game. Even nicer to come away with the win.
