Mayor Bloomberg reports his daughter is doing fine after her fall during the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament on Friday night. He said at a press conference, “A number of people have expressed their prayers for my daughter. She is, I think, fine,” and that her injuries are “certainly not life-threatening.” “I talked to her yesterday — a little bit of pain but was still walking around,” Bloomberg said. “And we’ll see what happens today.”

Georgina suffered a concussion and a fractured spine when her saddle unexpectedly came loose during the competition. CBS went so far as to say, "The fall evoked memories of the paralyzing injury suffered 15 years ago by another celebrity with a passion for horse-jumping, 'Superman' actor Christopher Reeve." Georgina, one of Forbes' "20 Most Intriguing Billionaire Heiresses" of 2007 (there are more then 20 intriguing billionaire heiresses?), is reportedly expected to be among the finalists for the 2012 Olympic equestrian team, and has had her share of injuries from the sport before.

Mayor Bloomberg thanked everyone for their support, saying, “Thank you for everybody that twittered and emailed and called. I appreciate [it], and I will try to make sure that George sees all of the twitters and emails and tell her who called." And here we thought he was too good for all of that.

Of course the Ghouls at CBS were bringing back memories of Reeve... I am surprised that Chief Anchorghoul Katie Columbine was not at her bed side asking "How did it feeeeeeeel to get trampled?" or at the stable asking the horse "How did it feeeeeeel to throw..."

  • Christopher Reeve, felled by Doomsday, he will be missed.

He is the most non-chalant guy ever.
