Trader Joe's Puts Up Crime Sign

Acknowledging they are a hotbed of criminal activity, Trader Joe's has put up a chalkboard message warning customers to keep an eye on their things. (Whatever happened to the sign targeted at the actual criminals?) Anyway, do you think if this sign doesn't work then those guys in Hawaiian shirts will start a 21 Jump Street-esque undercover squad in their spare time, to bust up the band of bandits ruining their "it's all good" vibe at the store? Because that would be awesome.

Mmm...thinking of Johnny Depp and 21 Jump Street

To address the criminals would make it a "negative" message and send a bad vibe out.

The ladies who leave their bags unattended in their carts are the same dolts who leave their purses on the bar and don't pay attention to them. They should have a hard-luck lesson, then they'll snap out of that practice pretty quick.

This is NYC---who leaves her purse on an "unattended shopping cart" or his wallet "atop his stroller?" I could sort of understand if the TJ's involved was the one at Union Square that gets all the idiots from the NYU dorms, but the Brooklyn store?

We have quite a few idiots here in Brooklyn now as well, mostly transplants that were priced out of Manhattan a few years ago. Anyway, some people need a good lesson to make them realize that they're not in some "safe" suburban store in the Midwest or South.

They put that up because they have no theft preventative measures in the store. There are no cameras. It seems the policy there is that they "trust" their customers not to steal, so they don't want to add the expense. Downside? If your personal shit gets taken, there's nothing they can do about it.
