Now there's good journalism.

First, if this mom had prenatal care, her OB should have noticed something wrong. A baby that big usually results from a pregnancy complicated by diabetes.

Second, a sonogram would have shown a fat baby.

Third, there may be a genetic predisposition to being weight-challenged (see photo).

This poor kid is on the road to lifelong obesity and disease.
