SI Man Spills 500 Gallons Of Milk

2010_10_spilt.jpg Okay, so Robert Carroll didn't tip over a 500 gallon cup of milk, but the 23-year-old Staten Island resident did drive the wrong way on Route 440 in Perth Amboy, towards the Outerbridge Crossing, colliding with a milk tractor-trailer earlier this morning. According to MyFoxNY, "The mangled tractor-trailer and burned car could be seen blocking all but one lane of northbound Route 440," and the tractor-trailer's driver was taken to the hospital. Carroll was charged with DUI and hazmat crews had to clean up the milk.

First of all, LMFAO! That was awesome, Speebs.

Secondly, milk is a hazardous material?

  • grandzu

In the 90′s, EPA and DOT wanted to define milk as a “hazardous material” under rules pertaining to oil spills. This was because the definition of oils included fats and oils of animal origin. The dairy industry spend untold sums to prevent the hazardous designation.

Now only raw milk is classified as a hazardous material but a spill is a spill and they all get cleaned essentially the same way.

Any tanker carrying liquid from New Jersey should be presumed hazardous.
