Wayne Manor Spotted In... Illinois

Not too long ago New York City was talking about officially adopting the Gotham City nickname—and while there are plenty of things tying Gotham to NYC, Chicago has also tried to stake claim on the name (director Christopher Nolan even said he used Chicago as inspiration for his Gotham). Well, now an Illinois couple is trying to bring Wayne Manor to the 'burbs... or at least they were 20 years ago when they painted this Batman logo in their pool for their Gotham-obsessed son.

Gizmodo posted the satellite image yesterday, turning the wanna-be-Waynes into an overnight internet sensation... but just like Batman, they're a little uncomfortable with all the attention. [via Pat's Papers]

What's up with that tennis court? It looks like it has a footprint bigger than the mansion. What kind of tennis court is that big?

I think the map if gotham city is essentially NYC. Yes, Nolan shot a lot of his batman series in Chicago, but that was really only for Lower Wacker and some of our architecture. Gotham is New York, IMO.

Exactly. Metropolis is Chicago. Hence the reason the boy from Kansas went to the closest big city to get a job at the Daily Planet.

FYI - classic Batman episodes (still not on DVD! Blame Fox and Time Warner) are now appearing on "The Hub" (formerly known as Discovery Kids.)
