Video: Yale Frat Boys Chant "No Means Yes, Yes Means Anal"

Ah, college in New England in October: A time of tossing footballs on leafy campus quads, flasks of bourbon passed around at the football game, and screaming along with your fellow fraternity pledges about rape and sodomy. On Wednesday night a group of pledges at the Yale chapter Delta Kappa Epsilon—where our former president George W. Bush once branded a young man—marched around Old Campus (home to the majority of Yale’s freshman women) chanting, "No Means Yes, Yes Means Anal." Here's the sickening video (which is mainly audio, because it was dark):

For good measure they also reportedly chanted "Fucking sluts." The Yale Daily News reports that they also yelled stuff like, "My name is Jack, I’m a necrophiliac, I fuck dead women." Our future CEO's of America in action! Of course, the DKE president has apologized for "the serious lapse in judgment" and declared that the fraternity does not condone sexual violence. But The Women’s Center at Yale isn't placated, and calls the incident “hate speech” and “an active call for sexual violence.”

And Good Feed reports that Broad Recognition, a Yale feminist publication, is demanding administrative action against DKE. "Yale women are not new to fraternity misogyny, nor are we a stranger to our administration sitting on their hands and doing absolutely nothing about it," Hannah Zeavin wrote in an editorial.

Isn't there anything strange about STRAIGHT "men" wanting to have ANAL sex with ANYONE? What's with the consistent ignor-ance in this culture of wild inconsistencies and constant hypocrisy? contrary to what felix the asshole may think or say, i'm alum and can tell you this was and still is pretty standard for the dke'sat yale and elsewhere (we'd call them 'dicks' and not 'deeks' of course) especially around fall rush. these are also the clowns that were forbidden from bathing for a full week while pledging and had to streak across campus at 3:00pm, regardless of weather. dke/ddd weddings were and still are pretty common, amazingly enough.

It what it is, and while we shouldn't make a federal case out of it, I do believe that they should be reprimanded and made to understand that not only is it wrong to think that but going around screaming it is offensive to others. This is Yale we're talking about and many of these young men will be tomorrow's leaders and they must be made aware of how wrong these actions are. I wouldn't expect that type of behavior to be tolerated in front of BMCC and much less on Yale's campus.

If they did that to my dorm when I was a fresh young coed, I wouldn't have whined about it to the media. I would have gotten revenge instead. There are many ways to do it, from pelting them with horrible staining substances (tobasco sauce and red wine was always a good mix) to posting their pictures with guesses at the undoubtedly miniscule size of their penises online. I guess nobody at Yale has any imagination.

These guys are clearly assholes, I have known some DKEs and this is unsurprising. But what exactly should be done about it? I guess they should all be sent to sensitivity training or whatever, no need to make a federal case out of it.
