VA Tea Partiers Prefer NJ's Christie Over Palin For 2012

2010_10_chrischrstie.jpg NJ Governor Chris Christie took top honors in a straw poll at the Virginia Tea Party Patriots' convention, edging out Republican party superstar, Alaskan half-term governor Sarah Palin. Christie got 14% of the 1,560 ballots casted, while Palin got around 13.5%; libertarian Rep. Ron Paul, former House Speaker and "Ground Zero" mosque-hater Newt Gingrich, and Senator Jim DeMint rounded out the poll. Christie has become a darling of the GOP lately, crossing the county to stump for and even defend various Republican candidates, but he said last week, "I’ve made myself really clear on my position about that. I’m governor of New Jersey. I’m not going to run for national office."

To win with just 14% means the overwhelming majority of these voters agree on nothing.

    Good luck with that.

I guess Ron Paul should've run for governor all those years ago in order to get those "executive experience" points. Plus it would've been a fascinating test case to see his policies on a state-wide level.

he'll eat his way across america to meet the voters who are just like him. but remember fat people don't like to look at another fat person. or something like that.

but let's wait till he ruins NJ first, OK?

That's the best they can do?

Ha, I guess they're not a threat after all.

He seems to be the only hope of the GOP at this point. If Palin wins in 2012, we're screwed because she's insane. If Obama wins in 2012, we're screwed because the Republican congress will make him a lame duck. President Christie would split the difference.

  • JEWS are THE best - SCREW libs

Palin is a disgrace to the Tea Party!

"I’m governor of New Jersey. I’m not going to run for national office."

And then he said "but who am I to disagree with millions of people?"
