NYPD Releases Video Of Pace Murder Suspects

2010_09_whitesox.jpg Surveillance video of two men believed to be involved in the killing of a Pace University student was released last night. Max Moreno was shot in his Financial District apartment building last month, during what police believe may have been a drug deal gone wrong or a set-up robbery. A witness said that Moreno, described as a "small-time pot dealer," allegedly refused to give any money to two armed men, one of whom pulled a trigger.

DNAinfo reports, "Police described the first suspect as a Hispanic man in his 20s who is 5-foot-10, between 160-190 lbs with blotchy pigmentation on one side of his face. In a security surveillance photo, he was wearing a black Chicago White Sox baseball cap, black shirt, and black jeans. The second suspect is also described as a 20-something Hispanic male, described as 5-9, 170-180 lbs, and was also wearing a black Chicago White Sox baseball cap. He however had a white long-sleeve shirt, and blue jeans."

The NYPD urges people to contact CrimeStoppers with information.

i honestly dont care about max moreno. i dont give a flying fuck about his life. i care about my own safety. i care about the preservation of my life. i care about the preservation of my life style. why don't you just admit it, he was an idiot. he risked his entire life for a few hundred dollars a month. weed is a drug and it is illegal. im not sure you know that. im not a saint. but i sure know that i would not have risked my academic career, my future and my life for a few hundred dollars a month. he obviously had an upper middle class upbringing. i know what it takes to live in 2 gold street. i live in it.

and you know what. id rather not live with either of the two- a murderer or a drug dealer. i thought i would not be privy to such things when i signed my lease. i guess not.

you reap what you sow. he deserved it. for putting the safety of everyone who lived in the building in jeopardy. let be a lesson to all upper middle class "drug dealers"

be smart and dont try to live the life of someone else.

so fuck max, fuck his family, and i hope everyone will learn a lesson from his stupid and ridiculous mistakes.

Pace University is not making a martyr of this victim. There was a memorial service and his friends mourned him. That's all. I realize that many of you believe that selling pot is a worse crime than murder and that the murderers did everyone a favor by killing this kid. All I can say is, get some perspective. Weed is a far cry from crack or heroin. Don't buy into the Reefer Madness propaganda that anyone who smokes weed is deranged. Would you rather live next to these two derelict murderers than a stoner college student who sells weed? This was a young man who made a mistake in dealing weed, but many of you made similar or worse mistakes in college, or perhaps you never even acquired an education, so let's quit the hypocrisy. Believe it or not, he had friends and family who loved him and he was by all acounts a decent student ready to embark on a professional, non-weed-dealing career. Have a modicum of compassion for the people who are still grieving for Max.

i live in this godforsaken building. theres plenty of ass to be had but also alot of riff raff hanging around everywhere. honestly i work hard to live there, and this fool was dealing drugs. he deserved to get shot in the face. live like a gangster, die like one. its actually a good thing this happened, now there will be less riff raff in the building and tighter security.

You're a sad pathetic excuse for a human being for cheering about a murder.

Keep cheering for murderers, maybe you'll be their next victim.

  • theiliad

whats sad is that pace university is actually making a martyr of this dumbass. celebrating and sanctioning memorials on campus grounds ? i mean im sure this kid sold and trafficked drugs on school grounds not to mention the neighborhood!

and yes, im cheering for the murders of dumbass, drug dealers.

They're mourning the death of a student who was one semester away from graduation, because regardless of what he did he's a human being who was just starting his life and the mistake that he made. selling weed, should not have cost him his life. If you were advocating for his arrest, that I would understand, but a cold blooded murder? What kind of person are you?

That's some logic, he sold weed so he deserves to die a horrible violent death and the persons that did it are okay because they just did what you wished you could. That's righteousness gone mad.

I'd rather live next to a weed dealer than a person who cheers for murderers.

You should've killed him yourself if you felt so strongly.

I hope these cold blooded killers are apprehended ASAP and spend the rest of their lives in prison so they don't end up killing anyone else, including people who cheer for them.

    Rest in peace Max Moreno.

No, he didnt deserve to die for selling weed. No one does. But he brought those shooters to his own doorstep by doing some very stupid shit. He may have been one semester away from whatever, but I can tell you this - his being a complete assw*p* got his own ass killed. Playin' stupid friggin' games, dealing pot, letting buyers into his crib...i mean, WTF? Playin' too much Grand Theft Auto, sounds like. Tips to college students: if you stay away from dealing drugs, they likelyhood of you taking a bullet to the head in your own apartment decreases dramatically. It definitely sucks that he was killed, but please, lets be realistic. He was an idiot to get into that shit. If I feel bad for anyone, it's his parents/family/friends.

  • billyjack44

Yeah, and you keep cheering for pot dealing jerk offs (as long as they don't live next door to you, natch). Do all pot dealers deserve to die? Of course not. But his own actions/lack of intelligence led to his unfortunate end. His felony-grade stupidity also led to a host of jack o**s (pot heads, drug users, and murderers, just to start with the obvious) traipsing through the building in which iliad lives and pays out the ass for, probably. Have some drug dealing douche next door fuc**ing up your quality of life on a daily basis probably goes a long way towards lack of empathy. Jus' sayin'.

He's attributing every "riff raff" he saw in his building to this guy well he's dead and gone now let's see how much his building cleans up now. I doubt it'll make much of a difference unless this guy had a weed supermarket in his apartment.

I lived in Washington Heights in the 80's and 90's so I know exactly what it feels like to live next to real drug dealers and and I rather live next to them than live next to murderers.

The key is to mind your own business and not be scared of other people because they're dressed a little different or talk different. This was a doorman building so I doubt there was people just loitering in the hallways, maybe he had to ride in the elevator every once in a while with someone that seemed scary to him and if he can't handle that then I'm sorry for him. At any large large building you move into in Manhattan you have the chance of moving next to a drug dealer, a craigslist hooker, or any other unsavory character and you have no control over that but if living next to them destroys your quality of life that much, that's understandable, but instead of wishing death on all these people maybe the person should move to a house in a nearby suburb because this is still NYC and frankly I find a person advocating the murder of a college student, one semester away from graduation, that sold some weed much worse than the actual weed dealer himself.

Bottom line, there's two murderers on the lose that this person seems to think did a good thing by murdering someone in cold blood.

Why did they wait till now to release this?

If this guys have any brains they wouldn't be anywhere near the tri-state area by now.

  • ocm123

Detectives in all jurisdictions usually only release surveillance video to the public as a last resort. It actually helps an investigation if the shooters do not know that the police have a photo because this way they are less like to flee town or go underground while in the city.

When someone pulls a gun, unless you also have one, give up the money. Hell, even if you do have one, give up the money... then shoot them as they are leaving.

  • youngpro

i prefer to give them a running start. i think i saw eastwood or bronson do that in a movie once. or maybe it was walken. they got some kinda high off of giving the perp a running start only to shoot them anyway.

  • JacqueMehoff

any video of them in the elevator?

  • Gotham Extremist

What?! All thugs are baseball fans?

How come you never see them in a Lakers jacket or Bulls hat? WHAT THE?
