Lawyer Says Peeing Outside Courthouse Was Emergency

100610dog.jpg Bronx Legal Aid lawyer Maxwell Gould was arrested yesterday for urinating outside the Bronx courthouse in broad daylight. A court officer tried to keep him from walking away, to which he replied, "I'm not stopping...C'mon, I wasn't feeling well." Gould later told the Post, "If I felt I could get to a bathroom, I would have gone to the bathroom," and a Legal Aid spokesman confirmed he had a prostate condition. What, there wasn't a Starbucks nearby? He faces a fine of a whopping $25 if he pleads guilty.

I see instances of public urination at least once a week in the Bronx. Dogs are better trained than most of the borough's residents.

Urinating in public is wrong but honestly sometimes there isn't a viable alternative. Thank God that Starbucks through the kindness of their hearts provide restrooms but sometimes there's no Starbucks around. I wonder what happened to those public self cleaning restrooms they were trying out a few years back.

I think that you can only hold it but so long and giving people tickets without providing a viable alternative is wrong, especially to those with medical conditions. But you can't let people just go in public so I always thought that large stores, of a certain size. should be mandated to provide public restrooms. Duane Reades, Rite Aid, large fast food establishments, Best Buy, etc. should all provide bathrooms because when you have to go, you have to go!

Not any worse than all the dog, homeless people, and mentally deranged people's piss on every square inch of every sidewalk in this city. I'd rather walk through piss of any type than all the smeared dog crap and lugies all over the sidewalk.
