"Suspicious" Greenwich Village Death May Be Suicide

2010_09_bryanjacob.jpg The body found on West 4th Street last night was identified as Bryan Jacobson, a 38-year-old events planner. And while a cop suggested to the Daily News that his death was "suspicious"—he was found with duct tape over his mouth and under a construction vehicle—now the News reports a suicide note was found in his apartment.

The ME's office will be conducting an autopsy, but cops think he jumped from his 250 Mercer Street apartment Building, "In the note, Jacobson wrote that he could no longer deal with his health issues, the sources said." A neighbor speculated to the News on Jacobson's outlook, "There was no question that he was depressed. Every time you spoke to him you got a negative response."

I'm trying to think of the thought process surrounding taking your own life...and at what point in that process would you decide to place a piece of duct tape over your own mouth. It doesn't make any sense.

Tell you what though...if I were going to throw someone's ass off a roof, duct tape would sure be a handy accessory.

What's with the duct tape? Was he trying to make sure he didn't talk himself out of it?

I've read, I believe, that only about 20% of suicides leave notes.

An event planner to the end.

  • Damn, he left a suicide note and yet duct tape his mouth????

Sad story but why was he trying to make his suicide look like a "hate crime"?

    Sad.

    Rest in peace Bryan Jacobson.
