Photographic Evidence of This Weekend's Track Work

The past two weekends have been cause for much kvetching, since it was nearly impossible to use the subway without having to go through a shuttle bus or lots of transfers unless you live on the Staten Island Railroad. But NYCTSubwayScoop has some photos that show all that hassle wasn't for naught! Transit workers were busy pouring concrete near 34th Street, making "platform upgrades" at the Kings Highway Q station, and replacing pandrol plates with quieter resilient fastener plates. Doesn't that make you feel so much better about your weekend commute?

And this morning the MTA says it has "good service," whatever that means!

Why does Gothamist always have to be negative about the MTA? I'm not a fan fan of the MTA, but when the system runs 24/7/365 it needs maintenance - A LOT.

The only times are overnights or the weekends..

Wow, if I didn't know any better, I would think that some of the commenters had negative feelings about the MTA and the value and service they provide.

I love these photo ops. They spend something like 2hrs working on the tracks then the other 5hrs + overtime sleeping in their cars or just sitting on the benches. Just look at that first pic. One guy is doing something while SEVEN guys are just standing around looking at the one guy working. Brilliant!

HA! This reminds me of those photos of astronauts "walking" on the "moon." Gullible much, Gothamist?
