Bronx River's Newest Resident: Justin Beaver

justinbeaver0910.jpg The new Bronx River beaver (spotted this summer) has finally been given a name by the people of New York. The Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo held an online voting contest, and the overwhelming winner was... Justin Beaver.

Justin joins José—the city's first beaver in 200 years, and named after the much-less-hyped Rep. José Serrano—and according to the Daily News the two have been spotted frolicking.

Will the pop sensation come visit his beaver namesake? Highly unlikely, but John Calvelli of the WCS is holding out hope, saying,"We'd love to see Justin Bieber come out and become part of this environmental movement. To see wildlife coming back right here in the South Bronx is really exciting."

So who's going to man the Beav's Twitter account?

To see wildlife coming back right here in the South Bronx is really exciting.

I thought the cops were always trying to suppress the wildlife in that area.

  • Petey

But as you can see, the south bronx wildlife survives.
