Video: Paladino Gets Into Altercation With NY Post Editor

93010paladinoconfront.jpg Between the attack ads, love children and background checks, tensions have been steadily escalating between Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino in Crazyfest 2010, so it was only a matter of time before someone's kettle boiled. And so it was yesterday in Lake George when Paladino got into an altercation during a Q and A with Post State Editor Fred Dicker. Dicker wanted to see evidence for claims Paladino made in an interview with Politco that Cuomo had cheated on his wife; Paladino shot back that he wasn't happy with the way Dicker and the Post have been reporting on his love child. "I want to know why you sent your goons after my daughter, Fred. You send another goon to my daughter's house and I'll take you out, buddy!" Paladino yelled (you can see the video from ABC below).

Paladino's campaign managing-attack dog Michael Caputo separated the two, and sent Paladino to the men's room to calm down, while he confronted Dicker: “Fred, you’re out of line, you’re off the Christmas card list.” (a reference to criticism from The View earlier this week). Caputo and Dicker have an uncomfortable stand-off; Caputo accuses Dicker of working for Cuomo, calling him a "terrible journalist" and "such a biased person." Dicker eventually leaves, and Paladino reappears to finish the Q and A, referring to the confrontation: "I don't send bird dogs to do my dirty work."

Politicians are fond of using euphemisms such as "slinging mud" to insult their opponents, but if you ever wanted to know what it really looked like, here it is in all it's grainy cellphone glory.

I'm starting to get the logic of voting for Paladino, in that if he gets elected he will either have to resign or be impeached and removed from office within six months.

Whereas with Cuomo you are probably stuck with him for at least four years.

So the identity of the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor is important this year.

  • kissel

I hope this guy gets elected, Albany needs someone to knock heads together. The harsher the leadership, the better.

  • John L

Why don't you just vote for your favorite wrestler then?

  • The corrupt MACHINE wants Cuomo. Don't even bother to vote or vote for Carl Paladino or vote for a 3rd party candidate but NO CUOMO. THE SAME AS PATAKI, CUOMO SENIOR ETC. if Paladino wins then he will be an one term governor but Cuomo will be there or 8 YEARS with no opposition and NO MEDIA scrutiny.

  • Dude69

Then I will counter your vote by voting for Cuomo.

  • I would send money to Paladino if he threatened to take out andrea Peyser. Man isn't Governor yet and already he is getting rid of the trash.

  • eyekantspel

Paladino just isn't ready for prime time. He has a point even if expressed badly. Leave the 10 year old alone.

  • TK

Vote for Andrew Cumomo because Kenneth Cole is his brother-in-law.

  • Sketto

Wow. NY politics is so ugly, it doesn't even pretend anymore. It's pure money, influence, and thuggery.

  • John L

So Paladino is going to put a hit on a journalist?

    This guy is really dangerous.

I can understand people's frustrations with Albany but we can't go from bad to worst and Paladino is the absolute worst.

    Vote for Cuomo!

Because he won't put out a hit on anyone.

  • ktinnyc

Stop being such a weenie. Do you honestly think Paladino was threatening to have Dicker killed??

  • Spirit of 76

Well, yeah. That's usually what "take you out" means. Unless you think he was saying he'd like to date Dicker. But let's give Carl the benefit of the doubt and say he'd never actually do it. Do you really want a governor who makes idle threats in public?

  • ktinnyc

C'mon. You've never heard guys yell out, "I'll kill you", or other stupid threats during an argument. We all know these are idle threats.

Idle threats or not I wouldn't vote for Paladino but the threats are pretty low on the list of why I wouldn't vote for the guy.

  • John L

Unbecoming of any politician, much less a governor.

Even if he just said it to intimidate a journalist, that's totally against the ideals of a free press.

Paladino is an idiot and dangerous.

  • hotstepper

well that was good, greasy fun!

  • ktinnyc

Paladino vs. Dicker/NYPost? This is like Freddy vs. Jason. I hope they take each other out. NY will be a better place.

  • Gotham Extremist

    "I'll take you out, buddy"

Nice, who's gonna vote for you now you violent azzhole?

  • Spirit of 76

felix will. He'd vote for Kim Jung Il if he was running against Cuomo. felix's motto is "ABC. Anyone But Cuomo."

  • do you know about Cuomo??? Do you know how he was in Queens to stop low income housing because the neighborhood didn't want color folks?? do you know how Cuomo is behind the housing mortgage crisis as head of hud???? Do you know how his family profiting from placing homeless people in hotels for 1,000 a night??? Do you know anything but what the media spoon feeds you??

So what? I would take out anyone who is following my kids? So Carl paladino has cajones unlke Cuomo who HIDES and DOES his dirty work behing doors.

Vote for Carl or a 3rd party candidate but if you want more of the same then vote for Cuomo. You will be eating frank and beans after Cuomo is elected.

  • John L

But Felix Carl Paladino supports BEASTALITY.

    Doesn't that botther you?

I had to spell it wrong or it gets rejected.
