Bon Jovi, Beastie Boys Nominated For Rock and Roll Hall

92910hallfame.jpg The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the newest nominees for its 2011 induction ceremony in the lost city of Cleveland, Ohio. Among the 15 artists nominated are NYC scientist-rappers the Beastie Boys, NJ's second son Bon Jovi, Kurt Weilian crooner Tom Waits, chicken-enthusiast Alice Cooper, vanilla hippie Donovan, and Jewish Elvis Neil Diamond.

Also nominated are NCIS star LL Cool J, coke/Disco party band Chic, commercial jingle writers J Geils Band, Queen of Disco Donna Summer, New Orleans funkster Dr. John, perennial backup singer Darlene Love, NYC singer-songwriter Laura Nyro, rap-precursor Joe Tex and schitzophrenic head-basher Wesley Willis blues rocker Chuck Willis. (There's always next year, Wesley)

The induction ceremony will take place on March 14. The Hall of Fame will also have a special John Lennon birthday tribute on Friday Oct. 8. Now the obligatory question: is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lame, or the lamest? Don't expect any objectivity from Johnny Rotten!

I've never understood the purpose of a "hall of fame" in any industry, but this one in particular seems a stupid idea.

Please. It was lame from start, then turned into a total travesty when they inducted Madonna instead of the Stooges in 2009. Rock'n'Roll Hall of Shame is more like it!

If they're going to include Hip Hop and Disco, they should change the name of it.

What a fucking travesty. Bon Jovi is crap. If album sales comprises the qualifications for entry, then Michael Bolton should be in.

And Bon Jovi has absolutely NOT sold more units than Rush, asshole.

You people need to stop hating, Bon Jovi is a fantastic group. There is no need to compare them to other groups and whine about why the band you think is the greatest thing since air isn't being inducted.

Bon Jovi has sold more albums than ANY of those bands, so they deserve this.

Finally that great rock innovator Bon Jovi will be in. I tell you, he changed music as we know it. The Hall of Uselessness.

Chuck Willis is nominated for the R&R Hall of Fame.
