One Dead, Four Injured In Seton Hall Party Shooting

092610seton.jpg One Seton Hall University student was fatally shot and four others were injured after a man "physically ejected" from the off-campus Phi Beta Sigma frat party returned and opened gunfire. The violence happened early Saturday morning, which one party goer described as "like a stampede. Girls were being trampled on. It didn't even matter. People [were] jumping out of windows. Everyone was just petrified."

The fatal victim, Jessica Moore, was a 19-year-old honor student from Virginia. She was declared dead at 3:20 p.m. yesterday after being shot in the head. Police are still looking for the shooter, and are offering $10,000 for information to his whereabouts. Essex County Prosecutor Robert Laurino said, "We'll leave no stone unturned until all those involved with this are brought to justice."

The frat house apparently has a reputation for throwing wild parties, which neighbors said were a recipe for danger. There's a lot of drugs—ecstasy, bad stuff," one said. "My friend kept his son from going there because they always have parties." Last night, 500 people gathered for a prayer service at the school, and Seton Hall Interim President Gabriel Esteban said in a statement, "We extend our most heartfelt condolences to Jessica's family and friends. Please know that we share in your grief and that we will be praying for you in the difficult days ahead. As we move forward from this senseless tragedy, we will look for peace and healing through our faith, and through the love and support of friends and family."

I've forgotten about the seton hall dorm fire that killed three. the two who started the fire as a prank was released in 2009. guess what, they were drinking and underaged. it all balances out in the end.

D.Lane, the white supremacist is back!

    With his/her insightful color commentary.

You and PCJudo should hook up and go lynching together.

These were college students and the person that shot this young girl was not admitted into the party, meaning he was not wanted or invited, and probably wasn't even a student. It's incredible that to psychopaths like you a ni66er is a ni66er no matter if he/she is an innocent college student or even President of the United States, but the fact remains that these were not thugs but college students trying to do the right thing and get a college education and you still dismiss them. Maybe they were killed by a black person but that doesn't mean you should put them all together and label it TNB. It was a college party and a criminal came and killed a college student.

The person who did this is not TNB, as you like to call it, but a criminal and they come in all colors and nationalities. Some of this country's worst killers have been white, so how do you explain that?

BTW, did you read about the nice little monsters in Connecticut on trial this week. They not only robbed this family but they raped a woman and two underage girls (an 11 year old in the anus) and then torched the house and burned them alive. They even took pornographic pictures on their cell phones of the 11 year old girl.

So my question to you is what cute acronym do you have for when white people commit heinous crimes like that?

    Would you call that TWB?

As far your anthropological studies can you explain to me why most serial killers are in fact white? Why the worst case of domestic terrorism was committed by a white man named Timothy McVeigh? What about the Unibomber? Or why the majority of sex offenders (51%) are white ( http://www.prevent-abuse-now.com/stats.htm )?

Disclaimer: I'm sorry if I offended anyone else here. I don't think that any race has a predisposition to commit crimes and I am certainly not trying to make whites look bad but I have to counter the stupidity that this person tries to spew as facts. I believe that criminals come in all colors and that was the point I was trying to make.

Firstly, I'd like to apologize for my comment. This comment was in response to a very racist and insensitive remark made by another user named D.Lane. D,Lane said that this killing of an innocent student and at a college party was due to what he/she called "T.N.B." and when another member asked her what T.N.B. stood for he/she said "Typical N--- Behavior". I found that appalling that D,Lane would trivialize the killing of an innocent college student by calling it T.N.B..

I now returned to the story here and see that D.Lane's remarks have been removed and as a result my comments may be taken out of context.

The only point that I was trying to make is that there are criminals in all races, maybe there's more in some races than other but maybe we're all to blame for that. I have always believed that economics are more to blame for crime than race. People like D,Lane will try to make the argument that certain races are inherently more prone to commit crimes or have a predisposition to be criminals, in fact he/she mentioned "anthropological studies" in his/her remark, I do not believe this to be true, so I pointed out circumstances where whites have committed heinous crimes to counter what he/she said but not to attack whites just to show that crime is not just a black/white issue.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

    John L,

If you're going to try and use statistics to back up your arguments, at least think about them a little bit first. You say the majority of sex offenders (51%) are white (although the website you point to is actually talking about child sex abuse, not sex offences in general, but I'll let that one slide).

But think about it - the country as a whole is between 70-80% white (depending on how you classify "white"). So it's almost a non-sequitur that they would be responsible for the majority of sexual crimes. But if anything, your stats show that white people are UNDER-REPRESENTED amongst child sex abusers - i.e. if 70%+ of the people are only committing 51% of the crimes, then other groups must be committing proportionally more than their "fair share" of sexual abuse crimes. I don't think this was the point you were hoping to make.

    What?

    Wrong article.

Try to stay with us here Dogsbody.

  • PCJudo

Of course the shooter wasn't "unknown". What are they trying to tell us? It was a sniper?

It is clear the shooter was non-asian minority.

  • John L

Maybe not, it was an Asian who committed the Virginia Tech Shooting, right?

  • freddynyc

First off, who the f*ck would want to go to a school in East Orange?

  • inoyourider

    Terrible.

I don't blame the frat, if this is the type of people they bounce.

Also, ecstasy and murder have very little in common.

The neighbor is most likely using this as an opportunity to get rid of the loud, late-night music from the parties.

  • JacqueMehoff

I don't know what that means but I know it's not nice seeing your post history.

all I can say is, it will all balance out in the end. The semester just started and they'll be more deaths at Frats, frat parties and colleges, maybe alcohol poisoning, which is really just drinking too much, or frat hazing gone bad, or falling out a window or just plain old suicide jumper.

  • John L

This is a sad tragedy. I saw this on the news yesterday and they had a picture of this pretty girl full of life and promise.

I can't help and notice the irony that people say that there's always parties there yet this was the first shooting and it was from an apparent troublemaker that was kicked out of the party but they want to make it seem like these parties are so dangerous. They may be rowdy, frat parties usually are, but if that have that many parties there and they really were that dangerous then wouldn't there be more shootings?

This was a senseless act by a monster that will hopefully be apprehended and thrown in jail but to try to judge these other college students by the actions of one idiot, who they kicked out of the party, is wrong.

    Rest in peace Jessica Moore.

  • Sally

This is ridiculous, these parties do not have such drugs at all. That was a very ignorant statement, no matter what college you go to there are going to be parties and altercations its just a shame this happened. people always get patted down and checked before entering and even though i was not present i have been to these parties before. Such assumptions should not be made. This has nothing to do with seton hall or phi beta sigma. these comments just make the situation worst to the people who witnessed the tragedy. No one is to blame but the shooter

  • exnyer

Try expressing your condolences first b/4 denying the drugs that are always present. RIP

  • Sally

This person was from my school. as if i havent expressed my condolences elsewhere. Its bad enough she passed away. to make it look as if the party was a tragedy waiting to happen is messed up

  • coconutendo

    No snitching.
