Cuomo Has A Laugh At Spitzer Comment

92510cuomo.jpg This past week, former Governor Eliot Spitzer made headlines when he called Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Cuomo "the dirtiest, nastiest political player out there," and implied that he was a bully and thug behind his "Rose Garden" veneer. Cuomo was asked about the quote in Rochester yesterday (you can see video below), and he gleefully responded, "Well that's saying something from Eliot Spitzer, huh?" (For what it's worth, the Post shares his sentiments) It was a rare glimpse of the real Cuomo slipping out, and you can see him stiffen afterwards, and quickly correct it by following up with his party-line, echoing the words of his spokesman yesterday. It feels unlikely that we'll see many more similar, candid moments from the stoic candidate for the rest of the campaign, not with Carl Paladino on his heels.

Take it from someone who's from western NY (Lockport). Do not vote for Palladino!

Disobeying the law is an obvious DQ for upholding the law.

    It demonstrates carelessness.

I know this is unpopular to say but I actually like Spitzer because he went after the big boys like no one before him or after him. The hooker thing was wrong but it didn't bother me because I know that no man is perfect and as long as it didn't get in the way of him doing his job as governor, which I don't feel it did, I could live with it. Many people regard John F. Kennedy as one of the greatest presidents, yet he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe and apparently was having orgies in the White House, it didn't stop him from being a great president. Clinton was a great president but his penchant for BJs destroyed him, but the country was in great shape, a lot of prosperity and a budget surplus. So Spitzer's hooker never bothered me as much as the idea that the only man who stood up to CEOs and Wall Street titans was now forced to resign.

Spitzer made hundreds, if not thousands, of very powerful rich enemies and it was only a matter of time before one of them found something in his present or past or made something up to destroy him. The day Spitzer resigned they won and they danced on the NYSE floor in celebration.

  • i liked him as well. He was one of the better Governors of the State. who the hell cares that he cheated on his wife???

I hope Cuomo loses. I rather have Carl.

    You disappoint me.

How can you, of all people, be willing to vote for the guy that was emailing beastality videos?

    Come'on Felix!

Personally, I'd like to see more hardasses in office.

  • Let's see: Spitzer has been removed from governorship by the media. The same media which removed Paterson to make room for Cuomo's race. The same media who agrees with Cuomo.

    Whom should I believe?

Spitzer has been removed from governorship by the media.

Umm, no, that would be the FBI, which caught him laundering money so that he could buy hookers. Then the media reported it, as they should, and he immediately resigned. Your claim here is completely ridiculous.

    skipping over Paterson, to....

The same media who agrees with Cuomo.

    About what?

    Whom should I believe?

Find someone you know who is less dumb and believe them.

I'll give you this, though - the media HAS been covering up the facts about aliens for decades. The truth is out there!

  • handsomedevil, my old friend. Where have you been? Not fighting the good fight anymore?

Andrew Cuomo, the youngest Housing and Urban Development secretary in history, made a series of decisions between 1997 and 2001 that gave birth to the country's current crisis. He took actions that—in combination with many other factors—helped plunge Fannie and Freddie into the subprime markets without putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments. He turned the Federal Housing Administration mortgage program into a sweetheart lender with sky-high loan ceilings and no money down, and he legalized what a federal judge has branded "kickbacks" to brokers that have fueled the sale of overpriced and unsupportable loans. Three to four million families are now facing foreclosure, and Cuomo is one of the reasons why.

Why do you think that he refuses to debate or be interview. He has refused for over 1,000 days to appear on NY1. Cuomo is as dirty as they come.
