Video: Katy Perry's Cleavage Cut From Sesame Street
Recently a clip from Katy Perry's appearance on Sesame Street got parents riled up when it was released online (the episode the singer appears on isn't set to air until November 3rd). In the clip, Perry is singing a kid-friendly version of her song "Hot n' Cold" to Elmo, but some parents think she's showing too much skin during the skit.
This morning, Sesame Street released a statement regarding the controversy, stating:
Sesame Street has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver. We also value our viewer’s opinions and particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers.
What do you think, in the past hasn't Miss Piggy shown more skin than Miss Perry did?

You are a REALLY violent person. Please, please, please seek help. I don't want the day to come where I read that you snapped and shot up an office building because someone there was wearing leather shoes. Seriously.
Wow.. learn to dress for your audience, Katy Perry! So tasteless. Could you imagine showing up to your babysitting gig in this outfit? How tacky!

The racier guest and content used to appear on the Muppet Show instead. When of course these little kids were supposed to be asleep...

Having young kids, I've seen a lot of Sesame Street in recent years. I'm watching this, and it feels pretty weird. They don't usually do songs where the backtracks are so predominant. It's like they made a video and (badly) adapted one of her songs into a PG, Elmo-centric version of itself. I don't mind the outfit or the boobs, but it doesn't help make the sketch better. Vapid's a good word for this.
This little pop tart aside, here's to another 40 years of Sesame Street!

You don't remember REM performing 'furry, happy monsters' to the tune of 'shiny, happy people'?

Yeah...but that's REM. This is an auto-tuned groupie getting by on a passing fortuitous breeze.

kim katrell was on an episode before too and she is anything other than what kids should aspire to be.

I haven't watched Sesame Street in decades. Is this video representative of the quality of the show? It's terrible. There's absolutely nothing educational about the song and the entertainment value, for adult or child, is minimal.
That said I don't see what anyone could find offensive in the video other than it is a crappy piece of work.
Bike Rider
nice how Elmo cops a feel at the end there. "Tag" you're it bitch!

No one remembers Buffy St Marie Pulling her boob out and showing Big Bird how to breastfeed?
