Carl Paladino's Wife Is A Democrat

2010_09_paladas.jpg The Daily News reports the shocking news that mad-as-hell Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino's wife is "a registered Democrat." Which means she "couldn't cast a ballot during her husband's monster win over Republican rival Rick Lazio last week." Paladino's campaign manager Michael Caputo said that the tough-talking Buffalo millionaire was a "conservative Democrat" until 2005, adding that the couple "usually cancel[s] each other out" at the polls. Caputo was also crowing the Quinnipiac poll that showed Paladino trailing Cuomo by just 6 points—"With this kind of poll, we believe Carl can compete financially with Andrew Cuomo"—but a Marist poll to be released soon may show Cuomo with a far more comfortable lead.

Who cares if she's a democrat. I live in Florida and will be watching this race closely. It seems Paladino is our only hope of getting the ground zero mosque stopped. I'm hoping and praying for an upset.

What a waste of hopes and prayers.

Hope and pray that your family is healthy and happy.

Hope and pray that a devastating storm doesn't hit Florida.

Hope and pray that we don't get attacked again.

Hope and pray that the United States gets back on its feet.

Hope and pray for world peace.

But don't waste your time hoping and praying about a building of people praying 3,000 miles away.

Bloomberg was also a Democrat but once you reach the highest tax bracket you have to become a Republican, it's called self-preservation. Once you make that kind of money you stop worrying about how much things cost and start worrying about inheritance taxes, capital gains taxes, offshore accounts, etc.

That's why I can never understand why people elect these super rich guys thinking that somehow they can change things. Change what? The system that made them rich? Are you kidding me? That's why Bloomberg hasn't seen a regressive tax he doesn't like but if you even mention taxing the rich a little more he goes nuts. Guys like Bloomberg and Paladino don't care about the cost of food shopping or rent or mortgage payments or credit card debt, or even tuition bills, those things don't matter or concern them or their sphere of friends.

How can any working poor or middle class people even imagine that these rich guys will make a difference in their lives? That's not even rational. They are so far removed from the realities affecting most NYers that even if they tried they couldn't imagine what we go through on a daily basis. So while their trying to devise another tax loophole we're trying to figure out how to stretch our money a little more by cutting back on the things we enjoy but aren't essential, it is what it is.

This reminds me of a story Charles Barkley once told:

"I was asked for years about being a Republican, probably because most black people are Democrats. My mother heard it once and called me and said "Charles, Republicans are for the rich people." And I said, "Mom, I'm rich."

If I was rich I MIGHT be a Republican too.

It seems your teachers were too lazy to teach your class about rich progressives named Roosevelt and Kennedy. Pick up a book. Its not too late to learn American History.

  • John L

Why don't you explain it to me.

  • JacqueMehoff

I'm a registered Republican who voted for Carl.

  • ANGRYGOD11

This makes perfect sense as Republican wives tend to be replaced by much younger, blonder ones.

  • ides_of_march

    I'm registered dem too.

A Democrat? That's a relief. Judging from the man's email, I though he might have been married to a mare.
