New Poll Shows Paladino Closing In On Cuomo

Just a week after shocking the NY GOP establishment by winning the gubernatorial primary, Buffalo developer and Tea Partier Carl Paladino is now looking like more of a threat to Democratic candidate Andrew Cuomo. Well, he's more of a threat if you believe this Quinnipiac poll which shows Cuomo leading by just six points— 49% vs. Paladino's 43%— among likely voters. Quinnipiac's Maurice Carroll said that Cuomo "might be a victim of his own excess. Politicians and polls have depicted him so relentlessly as a sure thing that he might be a victim of the 'throw the bums out' attitude that hits incumbents in this angry year."

Some other details from the Quinnipiac poll: "Only 18 percent of New York State likely voters consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement, but they back Paladino 77 - 18 percent... Cuomo leads 87 - 8 percent among Democrats while Paladino leads 83 - 13 percent among Republicans and 49 - 43 percent among independent voters... Women back Cuomo 54 - 34 percent, while men go 49 percent for Paladino and 46 percent for Cuomo." Plus, 51% of voters have a favorable opinion of Cuomo while Paladino gets 36% favorability (31% of voters don't know enough to form an opinion).

We can only hope this means more insane Photoshop posters!

So people really believe that Paladino is going to change Albany huh?

Why do you believe this? Because he said so?

Ok now back to reality, this system of corruption has made Paladino a very rich man, take a look at all his government contracts. Do you really believe that he's mad and isn't going to take it anymore? Please! What's he mad about? I'm mad vote for me! I'll change shit because I don't feel this system is working out for me or people like me but him? A multi-millionaire? And he's mad? So he's going to change things so guys like him don't get rich? And you guys are falling for it?

I'm really surprised at people thinking about voting for paladino. I mean, have you seen buffalo? it's still prettay, prettay, pretty awful. and paladino is a crook in the worse sense.

The polls are flawed in that they don't give an option to vote for Lazio.

Not a big fan of Paladino but I'm even less a fan of these career politicians and political dynasties. (Yes, that includes the Bushes) The Cuomo gang play dirty, seems only a loose cannon like Paladino is willing to take them on with any vigor. Either way, unless you're a total partisan hack, you have to agree that Albany needs shaking up.

That is the reason I might vote for Paladino. Albany needs some dramatic changes not the same politicians over and over again.

Cuomo really brings nothing to the table.

How can you be sure that would be good change? Believe me, Albany is nowhere near rock bottom. Change for no other reason other than change is about the stupidest decision somebody can make. I expect that from ides, but I personally would never consider the fire over the frying pan.

I read a disjointed pseudo interview in GQ about Cuomo (many small snippets from his father, Koch, Andrew himself, etc) and he seemed like a decent enough character. However it said very little about his actual policy plans and aspirations.

Seriously he needs to get out front and center and start talking and talking sense. Because when you stand the raving lunatic that is Paladino next to someone sane like Cuomo, people will say to themselves,"Holy SHIT, this fucking dude is CRAY-ZAY!"
