Video: Spoiler Alert Signs Going Up In Union Square

Remember those "Spoiler Alert" signs that attempted to save straphangers from the terrible fate of knowing when their train was going to show up? Well Kevin Bracken and Jason Eppink, the masterminds behind the prank, sent us this video showing how they did it. And we don't want to worry you or anything, but making an official-looking subway sign looks disturbingly simple. Where are the artists working on FML signs? The subway needs your Internet memes!

I'm sorry, but when did "mastermind" become synonymous with "typically lame hipster dooshbaggery"?

  • Not to be a pedant, but you mean "typically lame hipster douche bag", right?

  • RabbiLaFunque

Not exactly. "Dooshbaggery" is a term that refers to the actions of douche bags.

  • Dogsbody

I think Jason Eppink's point was that in the context of the sentence, it would be impossible for "mastermind" to be synonymous with "typically lame hipster dooshbaggery", and that "typically lame hipster douche bag" would be a better fit.

Try it yourself: substitute the word "mastermind" for your suggested alternative:

"Well Kevin Bracken and Jason Eppink, the [typically lame hipster dooshbaggery] behind the prank, sent us this video showing how they did it". See, it just doesn't make sense to refer to individual people as "dooshbaggery". A simple "douchebag" would be more appropriate, if that's how you feel about the matter.
