Reaction To Bed Bugs In Niketown: "Ew!"

091910nike.jpg After midtown's Niketown "proactively" closed due to a bed bug infestation, Air Jordan shoppers were shocked to find the store's windows covered in brown paper and signs saying they are "closed until further notice." But once they found out why they shuttered, they didn't want to go anywhere near the flagship. One Staten Island resident told the Daily News, "Ew! It makes you not want to go into stores. I'd rather shop online now than buy something and bring the bugs into my house." And that's how the internet finally killed real life shopping.

"Proactive" is one of those words I hate with a passion. Equal mixture of meaninglessness and business jargon.

I don't agree. It's overused sometimes, but I can't think of another word to describe what they did. Since they shut the store before a customer complained, that's proactive --referring to the original article.

I can't believe that Bloomberg keeps ignoring this epidemic.

It's affecting businesses in this city and he still doesn't care.

It seems like it's all over the UES. Eventually he'll get it as well.

What makes everyone so certain anything you buy online didn't come from a bedbug infested warehouse or truck?

And that's how the internet finally killed real life shopping.

Or rather, how an unchecked epidemic of vermin (will have eventually) killed real life shopping ... and movie-going, and flea markets, and stoop sales, and coffee shops, and working in an office, and eating in a restaurant, and relaxing on your friends' couch, and doing pretty much everything but sitting in your shower with the water running and praying to God you won't be next.
