- Giants 31 Carolina 18: The Giants opened their new home with an ugly win. New York allowed a safety and turned the ball over 4 times, but they got a couple of key interceptions to earn a victory. Hakeem Nicks had three touchdowns and Ahmad Bradshaw added a TD on the ground. The Giants will have to figure out a way to more effectively run the ball and clean up some sloppy special teams play if they are going to have any chance of beating the Colts on the road next week.
- Texas 4 Yankees 1: The Yankees may come to rue the day they didn’t complete a trade for Cliff Lee. Lee was absolutely dominant, allowing only two hits and three walks over eight-plus innings of work Sunday. That allowed the Rangers to complete their sweep of the Yankees and send New York to Tampa clinging to a1/2-game lead over the Rays in the AL East.
- Phillies 3 Mets 0: Jon Niese was good, but Roy Oswalt was better. The Mets couldn’t get a runner to second base as Oswalt allowed only 5 baserunners.
