Bombshell Reporter: "Male Hormone" Rages In Jets Locker Room

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan, assistant coach Dennis Thurman and some players are being investigated by the NFL after TV correspondent Ines Sainz complained about players catcalling her in the locker room while she was waiting to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez on Saturday. Sainz, a former Miss Spain who calls herself "the hottest sports reporter in Mexico," also says that during practice, Ryan and Thurman purposely overthrew passes so they would land near her.

In a series of Twitter posts, Sainz said, she was "dying of embarrassment" waiting in the locker room. "There is lots of male hormone in this environment... I’m sorry, not even joking would I take a picture of this. I don’t even dare to turn around." She later posted a picture herself at the practice, to show that she was not "inappropriately dressed." And today she tweeted, "Thanks everyone for your support. I already spoke to the NFL, which will decide if there will or will not be consequences. I can say that at the time I didn't want to pay attention to what was happening but the rest of the media heard clearly and in solidarity have denounced what happened."

Yesterday the Jets released a statement saying that they "will continue to work with the League to gather the facts and take any appropriate steps necessary to maintain a respectful environment for the media. The New York Jets believe that reporters have a job to do, and it is our obligation to provide them with proper and professional access. [Team owner] Woody Johnson spoke with Ines Sainz of TV Azteca today to discuss the time she spent covering the team yesterday. He stressed to Ines that he expects all members of the Jets organization to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times."

And Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum called Joanne Gerstner, a board member of the Association for Women in Sports Media, on Sunday to discuss the matter, and the AP reports that they're scheduling "an educational and awareness session with the team."

wow. men like women and oggle at them. i am so surprised and so outraged at this story.

  • Also, maybe if the Jets had spent less time staring at Ms Sainz' butt, and more time preparing to handle convicted murderer Ray Lewis and the Ravens defense, they might have won last night!

  • I think the Jets need to grow the fuck up.

Guys, you are professional football players - you have pretty young wives, even prettier and younger mistresses, plus random groupies of all shapes and sizes and you regularly hang out in the best strip clubs with the hottest dancers and you hire the highest priced professional escorts.

Considering that fact, you would think that you guys would know how to act like you've seen a woman before when a female reporter comes on the sidelines!

    Calm down, guys!

Actually it seems that whole thing is built around what she posted on Twitter. Here, from ESPN, are some comments she later made to a Mexican newspaper:

In comments published Monday by the Mexican newspaper El Universale, Sainz downplayed the incident.

"In my perception, at no moment I felt neither attacked, nor that something rude was being done about me," she said, according to the newspaper.

She indicated that she was not aware of the reported misconduct in the locker room.

"I went into the lockers and there were comments and games," Sainz said, according to the newspaper. "A fellow journalist told me that he was very sorry things like that were happening, in the surrounding areas where, evidently, there were jokes being made about me."

She did say that she spoke with NFL representatives and even shared what her crew had taped. But Sainz added that "at no time I even felt offended, much less in risk, or in danger of being in that place."

The Jets are stars of a reality TV show now. They're supposed to act like that.

    -1,000,000,000 (self-score)

Actually, your self-deprecation worked. I actually thought it was funny.

the failed joke was born and was crucified and is now alive! go and make people laugh and multiply, you god-damned failed joke you!

    She's a bit of a butterface.

And BTW, jeans that look like they're painted on you does not equal work-appropriate attire.

In a follow-up story, reporter Inez Sainz met w/NY Jets Team Owner, Woody Johnson and has now reported him to the NFL for inappropriate and harassing name.

  • dgeee

She dresses provocatively, accentuating her ass and breasts in an all male environment and gets upset at a few comments? Women really do want it all.

  • DarkGemini

There really isn't much to say about this post, except...

    ...well, this.

  • Sketto

Morale of the story: when a guy sees a girl in jeans like that, he has to pretend that he didn't notice how attractive her ass looks in them - thus proving how seriously he takes her as a reporter.

  • maryjr

She is definitely wearing booty-pop enhancer in those jeans.

  • annaka700

Nobody deserves to be harassed, and it's not clear what exactly the extent of her harassment was (catcalls?), but what woman in her right mind would wear any of those outfits to work? They are fine for clubbing or the bar or anyplace else, but WORK? If a hot guy showed up to interview a women's soccer team in their locker room wearing a shirt unbuttoned down to his chest and skin tight pants that you could see his package and his butt in, it would be just as inappropriate. She needs a reality check on her wardrobe choices.
