Pot Firefighter Accomplice Let Off The Hook

The firefighter who testified against a fellow firefighter who was convicted for operating a marijuana grow house in Queens Village escaped sentencing without any jail time. Matthew Cody, who owned the Bellerose house that Patrick Murray used as a grow house, had been facing five years jail time for his involvement in the marijuana scheme.

But instead, he was rewarded for his testimony against Murray with only three years probation and 150 hours of community service, though there are other kinds of punishments: Cody retired from the FDNY on Thursday, has filed for personal bankruptcy, and claims he owes over $1 million in debt. He also has to face the personal toll of turning on a fellow firefighter: "People now know that you turned on a fellow firefighter and there are repercussions, perhaps socially, he is going to be ostracized," said his defense lawyer, Raymond Perini.

that's one heck of a unibrow

You forgot to include the part about the three children living above the marijuana-infused basement. Patrick Murray's pot-growing setup exposed these young children to harmful fumes from the powerful chemical fertilizers as well as large amounts of carbon dioxide gas needed to maintain the plants.

In addition, Murray is reported to be a member of a white supremacist gang called "The Master Race" which is heavily involved in marijuana growing and trafficking, according to court papers.

At his sentencing, Murray was slammed by Brooklyn federal Judge John Gleeson for lying under oath. "I think there is a big reason to incarcerate the defendant," said Judge Gleeson who added: "He struck me as a strong, arrogant and untruthful witness."

Yeah, Patrick Murray sounds like a really great guy (not) and an invaluable asset to the FDNY (not).

TMR isn't a white supremacist group. It was a graffiti crew in Queens from the 80's.

  • just saying

TMR is believed to have started as a graffiti crew in the 1980s. But according to the DEA's affidavit, it devolved into "more violent crimes such as auto theft, robberies and primarily the manufacture and distribution of hydroponic marijuana."

Government makes more money from fighting it than they would regulating it.

Cost of drug-related law enforcement(comes from our taxes)+

Drug money seized and distributed to law enforcement agencies+

Prison guards and the promise of jobs to unemployed areas>

    Tax profits=

    Never gonna happen

Legalize or at least decriminalize the stuff already. This is such a waste of resources.

    Snitch!

Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time!

Snitching on his co-defendant to avoid a maximum of 5 years, what a dirtbag.
