Even More 9/11 Adploitation!

911adcourrier.jpg

Just days before the 9 year anniversary of September 11th, a new ad exploiting the tragic day has surfaced. Copyranter points to the print ad, created by Saatchi & Saatchi France for Courrier International (a Paris-based weekly), which declares: "Learn to anticipate." The image depicts shorter towers at the World Trade Center, with the planes above missing their targets. Ohhhh, make the buildings shorter! Time to start building underground, everyone; we'll be in the fallout shelter with our crackers and carbohydrate supplements.

Previous 9/11 imagery spotted in ads for: the Moscow News, the WWF Brazil, and even Cookie Monster was shown trying to take the towers down.

No, no ... this is the French version of the Twin Towers. They were supposed to be taller, but the French got le tired and just stopped building.

  • snickerdoodle

You mean the French are tasteless, tactless, gutless cowards? Color me shocked.

  • If real, it is pretty tasteless...

  • Rocknrope

Did they really need to put the planes in there? Frog idiots.

Actually, if it wasn't for the Port Authority, that is EXACTLY what the WTC towers would have looked like. The original design called for 55 story towers.

That's got to be a hoax ad (though I wouldn't put it past the professional ad men at Saatchi & Saatchi to come up with an ad design that's that insensitive and offensive so long as it grabs attention).

"Adsploitation" seems better to me. Since you asked.

    Fick dich Frankreich.

Apparently it's not ok to be brown and muslim and wanting to build a community center but it IS OK to make straight ahead insulting insinuations if you're French. I guess the location for the ad is ok this time. Either way; Frenchies are no's 6 or 7 in the scale of acceptable whites right?
