Guess The Year: Party Time

Can you believe this photograph was taken in New York City? It was, and now it's time to guess which year (bonus points for guessing where in the city this party was going down).

UPDATE: The above photos (we've added a few more) were taken at the annual lawn party of the Army Relief Society (an organization that raised funds for the care of widows and orphans of officers and enlisted men of the Regular Army). These were all taken on Governors Island on May 25th, 1911.

Imagine all these folks in an IRT Hi-V going from Borough Hall to Grand Central—parasols, top hats and all.

Even though I wouldn't be eager to relive those days, I'd gladly use a time machine to steal their clothes and furnishings, and leave their attitudes behind.

Love these photos; back in the day when people used to have manners and actually take pride in how they looked before leaving the house.

1891, and I'll guess it's a daughters of the revolution meeting. Madison Square Park?

I don't know where but it looks like a tea party in support of the Temperance movement. Too sober and somber for my likes.

What a fabulous photo! I would say it was taken in the 1910s, specifically between 1914 and 1918. Judging by the stars & stripes-draped tent in the background, I'm guessing the event was a wartime fund-raiser hosted by a ladies club.

The girl 2nd from the left in the front looks hot from the back. Ah if I only lived then lol.. I'll say 1906.

Like all the women in this photo, she was wearing a corset. Her shape wasn't made by God.

Thank goodness we no longer live in a world where women need to t0rture themselves to fit some ideal body type. We've got computers for that now.
