Prospect Park Goose Count Up To 107

Has someone been exposing the Canada geese to bright lights and feeding them after midnight? Because these things are multiplying Gremlin-style over in Prospect Park! Just weeks after hundreds of the park's geese were sent to the gas chamber, 37 more showed up—and now the NY Times reports that currently that number is up to 107! That's the official number declared by locals Anne-Katrin Titze and Ed Bahlman, who hand-counted them Sunday. Back when the park saw its 37 new geese, an "expert" declared that the population wouldn't continue to grow at that rate, but an official at the Humane Society countered that, saying, “the program kills geese, and then more will fly in—as they have in Prospect Park—and then they’ll have to kill more geese."

If I can't carry a tube of toothpaste onto a plane because of "terrorism," but these birds are allowed to bring down planes, shouldn't people who feed Canada geese be locked up and charged w/ terrorism?

You mean if you kill a bunch of migratory birds in a habitat that is generally extremely hospitable to their well-being, more migratory birds will fly in to take their place? Who woulda thought??

These are an aggressive, filthy invasive species. Why the hell do people keep feeding them? Barbecues are a problem, too. Why not issue licenses to barbecue, but only if people agree in writing to capturing & barbecuing at least 10 Canada geese a year?
