A lot of non-establishment white people supported the Black Panther Party and support the Freedom Party nowadays. Charles Barron has been a consistent supporter and helped get legislation passed for better health care including vital HIV/AIDS services; been there for victims of police brutality & inaction (who are also Muslim & LGBT); for a lot of education reforms including bullying that would make our children's lives a lot better, and more. He is not beholden to corporations and his party proves it by taking no corporate support. He and his wife are Christians and there wouldn't be any weird trips to Washington to have sex on our tax money. Of course a lot of working class folks of all races want to vote for Charles, just like they already want to work with him. This white woman is proud to-- get on the bus too!

While we sit here divided trying to bring each down they are quietly taking over. Just this week they became the 2nd largest economy in the world behind the U.S. and will soon be #1. Aren't they financing these wars? We'll be paying them for generations to come. This is a global economy (competition) now and while we sit here arguing with each other about race they continue to quietly gain the advantage.

I hope Barron gets on the ballot just so I can have the pleasure of voting against him. That guy isn't playing with a full deck, and every card he has in his deck is the race card.

I'm glad Barron's running. He's got a lot of guts. Anyone who'll vote for the son of a man who built 25 prisons in NYS and locked up blacks and Latinos so white poor people upstate who can't get jobs, now have jobs as corrections officers is a bigot and a racist. Between 2006 and 2010, 52,000 stops were made in the Brownsville houses alone. Would you say that's racist? Would you like to live in those conditions. If you don't know what's going on or you don't read or become informed you'll always be a fool. Have some humanity and understanding of others and their plight and you'll be a better person for it.

It is online for those who want the real deal about what people in this country went through. The US was founded on genocide, Black Slavery and indentured servitude by most Europeans. Indentured servitude was very similar to slavery but these people could buy their freedom after a number of years of something pretty akin to black slavery. Many Europeans died on ships leaving Europe for the Americas. They died from many diseases, childbirth, many being thrown overboard because they were a liability. It was pretty horrendous. Prof Zinn talks about divide and conquer strategies that were used so the ruling class could continue to profit at the expense of the worker, immigrant, etc.

I'm glad he's doing this. He knows he can't and won't win but he's shedding light on the situation. I think he, and many other NYers, were insulted by the way Democrats totally turned on Paterson because he wouldn't step aside and allow their anointed leader, King Cuomo II, to run uncontested.

The fact of the matter is that both the Democrats and Barron's Freedom Party are running race-based campaigns. The Democrats have an all-white slate and now Barron has an all-black slate. The difference is that Barron is admitting to it and only doing it in response to the Democrats' shunning of minority candidates, to prove a point, but the Democrats are doing it quietly and they know they will win.

So Charles Barron is running on the platform that he is 'black?' Oh..kayyy

Baron is radical at times but on this, he has a point. The Democrats take minorities for granted. There is absolutely no reason for an all white democratic ticket. There are plenty of qualified minorities. I think the highest ranking Asian ever to hold public office in NYC is John Liu. That's ridiculous. Maybe with Baron's nomination, minorities will become energized and demand more representation in government.

There is a very good reason why the Democrats have an all-white ticket: The experienced Black and Latino politicians squandered their good name and credibility. They are not that popular in their own community ( but will likely continue to be reelected until death or criminal conviction) and do not appeal to state-wide voters.

You may not like Spitzer, Cuomo (father and son) nor Pataki, but they had more than enough state-wide appeal to win.

Now, name one Black or Latino today with enough appeal to win.
