Guess The Year: Hippo Attack!

Can you figure out when and where this photograph was taken? There actually is no recorded date attached to the amazing image, so let's try to crack the code and figure this one out. There are, however, details about where in New York this man put his head in a hippo's mouth, so we'll update later in the day with more information about that.

UPDATE: Since we first posted this photo we've found out the year it was taken in, along with an accompanying photo. The photo was taken sometime around 1910 in Central Park, meaning it wasn't Rose, who didn't arrive until the 1930s (here's some amazing video of Rose and her friend!).

Don't mess with hippos, ever. If you see one, run the other way and climb a tree. That's 5,000 lbs of killing machine. They can outswim and outrun humans and account for more human deaths in Africa than any other animal, an average of 30 a day.

when: 1942, when a hippo almost went (happily) carnivore on a human. i also think it's 1942 based on what the people in the background are wearing.

    where: smells like brooklyn.
