Reward Offered For Finding Canada Goose Killer

0810acanadagoose.jpg The Humane Society of the U.S. has announced they're offering a reward for the Canada geese killings in Westchester County. Allegedly four geese were killed in Cortlandt on Wednesday of last week, and they're offering $2,500 for any information that helps unveils the killer. Here's the information they have so far:

The SPCA of Westchester gives the following account: On Wednesday, at about 5:30 p.m., a motorist rammed into a flock of six Canada geese near 103 Allan Street in Cortlandt, N.Y., killing four of them. A witness said the motorist sped up to hit the geese and laughed as the birds were struck. The witness described the car as a blue or green Honda Civic. A month ago, another goose was killed by a vehicle in the same area. Witnesses said that that motorist also deliberately drove into a group of geese.

Patrick Kwan of the HSUS says, "People who are cruel to animals rarely stop there and can hurt another animal, or even a person" (like, say, this guy?). Canada geese are protected by state and federal laws—it's a violation of the New York State anti-cruelty law and the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act to harm and/or kill them. A recent act of cruelty in New Jersey recently left 18 Canada geese dead.

Migratory Bird Treaty Act? Really? I think geese are in clear violation of this treaty. Didn't they sign it with their green poo, Mr.Kwan?
