Video: No "Ground Zero" Mosque, the Song

We're already almost halfway through August, but we finally have the Song of Summer 2010! This heartfelt anthem—sure to surpass the Macarena and Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" in mass appeal—is entitled "We've Got To Stop The Mosque At Ground Zero." Written by Grammy Award-winning producer Trade Martin, it begins with the stirring lyrics, "We’ve got Freedom Of Religion, I understand
/ But Ground Zero is one location,
where a mosque shouldn’t stand!" Never mind that the "mosque" (it's really an Islamic center with a prayer room inside) won't stand at Ground Zero (it will be two blocks away)—this is Freedom Rock, so turn it up, man:

That slapping sound effect during the "It's a slap in the face" line at 2:24 is an inspired touch, eh? Though the song sounds just a little bit country, Martin was born in Union City, Jersey and has been around NYC his whole life, so he's got that going for him. But for those who can't listen along at work, or who don't care to pour flag waving pop pabulum into their ears first thing in the morning, we've pasted the lyrics below:

We’ve got Freedom Of Religion, I understand

But Ground Zero is one location,

where a mosque shouldn’t stand!!!

(Chorus)

We’ve got to stop the mosque at Ground Zero

From thumin’ its nose at every victim and hero

Thousands of Americans died in the attack
It’s a sacred place, and that’s a cold hard fact

There’s a painful memory in our minds

Our hearts keep breaking when we envision that tragic time.

(Chorus)

God help us retain the honor and trust

For all the families... who have suffered so damn much

(Chorus)

Many Innocent Americans were killed

If we let them build it, can’t you see

They’ll turn 9/11 to a mockery

Unlike the Islamic Center, this song IS NOT protected by the First Amendment. On the contrary, Conspiracy to violate rights is a Federal Felony as is INCITING OR ATTEMPTING TO CAUSE a conspiracy to violate rights. (Federal Statute 18 USC 241)

(i.e. Organizing a cross burning is a conspiracy to violate rights. Writing a song telling people we should get together and burn crosses is inciting or attempting to cause a conspiracy.)

Not only should Trade Martin be sued, but he and everyone involved in the making and promotion of this song and video should be indicted by a Federal Grand Jury, which I would personally love to see. Perhaps sitting in Leavenworth for a few years will teach them the meaning of the word FREEDOM.

At least 59 Muslims died on 9/11 including children and pregnant mothers. The World Trade Center was attacked by Al Qua'ida. The Islamic Center is being built by Americans. Therefore, who is this "They" this song speaks of?

This protest song was placed on You Tube on August 7th. I created the video and co-wrote the lyrics. Chris McCune is the singer-songwriter performing his tune.

    Please enjoy.

    our media controls our thoughts.

No one's mentioning that it's actually a bad song irrespective of your opinion on the subject? Can people (pro mosque and against mosque) at least agree on that one? "I am America" is 10,000x better than this piece of shit, that's pretty catchy actually.

Nice to see I'm not alone here!

“GROUND ZERO MOSQUE” song / video.

The concept for this particular song is derived solely in point of the location of this building. It is my opinion that “this location” of a mosque will give our “islamic terrorists” enemy a morale boost. This is aiding and giving comfort to our enemies and strengthens their resolve. Protect our troops do not aid our enemy in any way. All men are created equal all men's actions are not.

    Thank you.

I am more offended by the Dakota Roadhouse (yuppie "dive" bar currently next door to the proposed site) than I am by Park51.

  • robingee

Oh, the racist bigots don't want to read THAT. It makes sense and is truthful! They choose to ignore it.

  • robingee

For a huge metropolitan city, NY sure has a lot of ignorant bigoted rednecks. "Go back to Ohio!" NYers whine to outsiders and tourists... yet we have more intolerant a-holes than all of Kansas has at a Creationist Museum or Focus on the Family meeting.

  • your world view depends on the news you see.

In the news I read, every other day some village in israel/palestine is destroyed, some civilians in iraq or afganastan are killed, et cetera, et cetera..the typical tapestry of life in the middle east.

If I was a 9/11 widow or rescue worker I would have researched the attack. I would know (as its no secret) that the motivation for the every 'muslim' terrorist attack on the US is our forgein policy.

I would think, 'wow, we've killed a lot of people since 9/11...something like 150K people...chances are anyone who was remotely connected to 9/11 was caught up in that'. So lets say for a moment we have a clean slate, no one over there has attacked us so in theory there is no reason to....kill them.

how do we prevent the another attack?

hmmm. I would say, as a 9/11 widow or survivor who wants no one to go thru what I've gone through that this would be an important question. The only answer would be to address the motivation that makes the terrorists. all that forgein policy stuff.

yet if you read the 'detailed news' you'd know that the US is more involved, more one sided in the Middle east today than it ever was before. We are even now being put on a path to war with another oil producing muslim country, Iran. would another war makes us safer? No.

As a 9/11 widow/rescue worker this would be my focus.

I would understand, through reason and logic that the best way to prevent another terrorist attack is to address the motivation, the root cause that creates a terrorist.

yet, very few people are doing that. I wonder why?

Muslims have been at war with the rest of the world since it began 14 centuries ago. Until shari'a law is installed world wide and every Jew, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist etc submits to Allah, jihad will continue. Their perpetual outrage and intolerance for everything non-muslim is nothing new. US foreign policy is just the latest excuse. That's what Islam means - submission. I'm not willing to submit, are you?

  • robingee

Why do you believe all of that, ides? Who taught you these things?

  • groan.

well for 1400 years you should be able cite tons of examples of muslims conquering non-muslims. there should be a string of cases of muslims imposing shari law. I mean thats their plan isnt?

where in the history books do you see 1400 years of muslims conquering non muslim nations?

I dont see that. I see an intial expansion then almost a 1K years of rather seperate existence from the West. I see the Ottoman empire collapse and the Europeans divide up the land, making colonies for themselves including the one thats motivated all the 9/11 hijackers.

    hmmm...

see what that is ides? those are opinions informed by fact...not fear. you should try submitting to that for a change

  • potsmoker

"its part of a general pattern of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy, which was bred to an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of fear"

sounds like a smart man talking, was this some liberal muzzie loving academic in 2010, some hipster mom in park slope 2002? who could have said these traitorous words doubting the gubament, who deserves to be called anti american for thinking the wrong way, whose aluminum foil hat deflected the brainwashing of the mass media and war machine...

    who

general douglas mcarthur in 1951, kids...

war is a racket, anti islam hysteria is just another part of the game, we invented the boogey man every since the start of this country, and it helps keep the uneducated populace in line and in graves with a little pretty flag and helps keeps the policy makers and the elites super rich....

I prefer this musical lesson in multicultural etiquette from Monty Python.

09-11 was an inside job, two planes and magic muslims cant make 3 buildings fall at freefall speed completely into its own footprints.

the whole islam mosque debate just shows how DUMB and brainwashed americans really are.

  • robingee

The fact that many engineers and scientists have proven without a doubt how the towers fell and what caused the collapse has no meaning for people who choose to believe conspiracies... same as the Birthers and the Teabaggers. You can shove proof right in their face and still, they stomp their feet and say "NO! WAH!"

  • TimSPC

I gotta admit, the song is having an effect. I used to think they should be allowed to build the Cordoba House, but now I think it's gotta be stopped. Thanks, Trade Martin!

  • JayNYC

Dude, you're ALL over this Mosque stuff, aren't ya? We get it, "Americans who don't like Islam = Bad", "People Who Practice Islam = Good Peace Loving Souls".

    Okay. What else ya got?

  • robingee

Bitch when a story isn't about NYC, bitch when a story is about NYC...

  • jibbly

Think a little harder and maybe you'll realize how irrationally blind with idiocy that statement was.

Or maybe you'll just poop out a nugget in your pants. Either way would make me happy.

It's a toss-up between this and "Staten Island Girls" for summer hit of 2010.

  • Madly Hatting

It's tough....this video gives me the idea of a lady being slapped....but Staten Island Girls gives me the idea of whores....so they both have a great message.

    Revolting!!

In the 11th & 12th centuries these folks would have been marching to the Holy Land to recover the Holy Grail [raping [not rapping] and pillaging along the way].

It must be a quiet Summer in CBs 1 and 2.

    Is that Simon Belmont?

  • indeed it is.

This has been the best story...no...saga of the year.

I just wish we'd stop calling it "ground zero". It's pretty lame. That's the best we could do? This song is the musical equivalent of the name, "ground zero".

  • Tony

Anyone who thinks that those huge buildings could perfectly collapse straight down in 8.9 seconds because of burning jet fuel has made a mockery of 9/11.

  • Jamie McDonald

    9/11 Truth is so 2007.

That is all; you are now free to go back to masturbating to "Loose Change: The Director's Cut."

I was bored with this days ago, and would be inclined at this point to support both mosque and gay bar.

  • unretrofiedforu

You see? This is the very reason why nobody respects the Grammies.

Aww yeah! Good tune man! I think the muzzies are working on a rap called "LOL U MAD USA? (We put mosque over your dead) feat. Lil Wayne and the Liberal backup singers"
