City Could See Record Tourism This Year

081110tourists.jpg According to preliminary data, New York City is on course to have 47.5 million tourists clogging our streets by the end of the year. (Kidding! We appreciate your business; just stay to the left.) That number is over half a million more than the record in 2008, and a 4% increase over last year. Last year tourism slipped for the first time since 2001, but this year puts the city closer than ever to Mayor Bloomberg's goal of getting 50 million tourists by 2012. Hey gay folks, have you made your Rainbow Pilgrimage yet?

We're here visiting from SF RIGHT NOW and I have to say, I've elbowed quite a few New Yorkers out o' my way so far on this trip. I got shit to do! My liberty ferry leaves in 15 f***ing minutes!

Seriously, your city is great. But my city (despite the whole killing German tourists thing) is better than your city!

I lived in your city for quite some time before deciding to move back to NYC.

San Francisco seems really annoyed with itself, like it's being dragged kicking and screaming into this whole idea of "urbanism." I couldn't even laugh when I heard arguments for against a building because of the shadow it might cast. I just face-palmed.

Nice place, though. Going to visit friends in Dec. I have a few old haunts that I'd love to see again.
