Woman Attacked By Bat-Wielding Man On UWS

Yikes: The Daily News reports "Cops were hunting a man in an orange vest who bashed a woman in the head with a baseball bat on the Upper West Side. Police were called to W. 81st St. between Columbus and Amsterdam Aves. about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday"—that's right by the Museum of Natural History—"They found a woman bleeding from the head." The woman was conscious after the attack and said her attacker was in his 30s. It's unclear if the attack was random.

  • The Daily News revised its story later on. I'll do another post about this later, but the original News story did mention a bat. I didn't make that quote up.

oh shoot...I think I read in the Post earlier today. Wasn't this the lady who was the wife of the super who cornered the burglar in her building and said he wasn't supposed to be there, and he repeatedly punched her in the face?

    1) As pointed out, there is no mention of a bat. There is mention of a punch.

    2) Since the guy was "posing as a construction worker" and had just removed an air conditioner from the building, one can assume that this is NOT random.

    3) Instead of the implied psycho with a bat wacking people on street corners, what you have is a cornered burglar punching somebody when they get caught.

Please read what you link to.

...in his 30s. That rules out Marty McFly...

I am totally opposed to the use of "UWS."

  • Mr Mel

    Try "UUS".

Those crossing guards are out of control...

  • himynameis

Daily News doesn't mention a bat... and why no description? Be on the lookout for males in their 30s NYC it may be this..um guy.

  • Mr Mel

I tell you the UWS is uninhabitable.
