  • "Postwar" author and intellectual Tony Judt died yesterday at age 62.
  • Mayor Bloomberg has donated millions to the charity, The Doe Fund, which helps homeless, drug addicts and ex-inmates and supported Bloomberg's third term bid.
  • "Hippie Grifter" Ashley Anne Kirilow has turned herself in to Canadian authorities after faking cancer and raising at least $13,000 in charity money. Of course their version of the "Hipster Grifter" was nice.
  • Some Lollapalooza attendees just aren't into Lady Gaga.
  • HP's chief executive resigned because of a "personal relationship with a contractor who received numerous inappropriate payments from the company."
  • The victim of an acid attack is in stable condition. A witness same him being "hosed down by the FDNY. Apparently he had acid all over him that was eating through his skin.”

    I like how the Daily News, right under the story about the man who died in the fire, has the headline "You Might Also Like."

    And I just wanted to say that if it was a woman who died the headline probably would have been "71-Year-Old Grandmother." Just saying.

    I'm sorry about Tony Judt's death as I would be about anybody's death. He hit on the Jews because it was easy. Had he hit on Muslim Arabs his life would have been in danger.
